Years ago just before Xmas I got stopped for throwing a 'Cigarette' butt out of my car window by Plod, obviously it was just a ploy to pull me over and breathalyse me as it was an early morning close to Xmas, anyway I completely denied throwing a cigarette butt out of my window as it was actually a cigar stub that was thrown, I passed the breath test, my car was all legal etc. so now the copper was trying to get the angle that I was littering, I pointed to the verge/gutter and told him that it was full of dead leaves (Which it was..) and then explained that a cigar, unlike a cigarette has no paper, or filter, it is entirely composed of tobacco leaves and I would be quite happy to argue the point in Court should he so wish (As I honestly could not see any problem with what I had done) I got away with a patronizing 'Don't let me see you do it again..'
I don't see any difference with an apple core, they fall off trees naturally, like leaves and other fruit, but then it's Big Brother UK, any excuse to fine you.
Get a better car. Many models have ashtrays for these things. Until then, don't smoke in your car and throw your waste on the floor.

actually that's for walking in the countryside/national parks that's how long they stay there when some nob head Sunday walker and his fetid offspring leave them lying around.
apples are "intended" (as if that word is in any way appropriate) to be eaten whole and then crapped out the back of an animal providing the seeds with nice compost.

And every other possible source I can find also says 1-2 months.
This suggests to me that you've never actually had an apple tree in your garden or been to an orchard.
Many, many apples simply fall to the floor and rot, without ever being "eaten" by mammals. Many are pecked at by birds who do not eat the core at all. Wasps will also eat the fruit but not touch the core.
Being eaten whole simply helps the seeds cover greater distances away from the parent tree, but is not a pre-requisite for the seeds within to grow.

Those signs are there to "scare" people not actually tell facts. They are useful for townies that never usually walk in the countryside.

That's how i understood it. It was more by chance that they were fined. Where as, the bus shelters in my home town are a continuous problem. It literally stinks of cigarettes, with the floor covered in cigarette ends. Never seen a council employee do anything about it, or anyone get fined.
Id imagine if an enforcement officer was walking buy right as someone did it, they'd pull them up on it too...but obviously nobody does it if theres a council uniformed good walking right in front of you

It's an apple! In years gone by it would have been part of the natural environment. Nowadays apples are largely confined to supermarkets, but that doesn't make it any less part of the natural environment.
Only today our environment is totally un-natural!
I have an orchard. Rotten apples are disgusting. Yes, one apple in a random hedge is nothing to worry about but the bigger issue here is letting people off because one council bod things one particular law isn't worth bothering with.

The 2 instances referred to in this post, the apple and the wotsit, both involve people throwing their unwanted food out of a car.

Animal poo is even more disgusting, but its also good for the soil!
Same with rotting apples.
In the eyes of the law then yes, you take possession of that item when you take it. If it happens naturally then of course theres no issue.
Ok then...So its cool to lob feces on peoples property too then? Hell, you're doing them a favour, why not just walk onto their property and take a huge dump smack bang in the middle of their lawn.
