I've been wondering lately if thats happened to some of the population on Desolation. We fared reasonably well a few weeks ago in WvW, then we had a couple of weeks against the insane French servers, I figured that as we dropped down somewhat we would end up against some easier servers and we'd pick up again, but it seems that even now, without the french servers as opponents we are continuing to struggle compared to a few weeks ago, and I seem to be noticing a lot less people in WvW these days from Desolation. Wondering if people got demoralised against the french and jumped to a different server.

Really? They went and joined the french servers? Well that would explain a lot.

People were just looking for an excuse as to why they were losing. Yes there are a few Canadians on Vizunah, but it's just a small handful, and the vast majority is just French people.

lol so losing to Canadian's is better than losing to the French? Bizarre. Having only been in WvWvW once, it seemed to me to be purely down to numbers, there weren't anywhere near as many players from Desolation as whoever it was we were up against at the time.

I thought it was becuase there are a fair few French Canadians on there so they could play pretty much 24/7?
its losing to the same server constantly day and night, French in the mornings and the French Canadians taking over in the evenings. So no matter what keeps you capture, they are taken back later on in the night.
With WvW being a 24/7 battle, any server which has players in all time zones will have a big advantage. Even when a keep is fully upgraded, it doesn't take much to capture it if there are no defenders online to use the cannons, mortars and oil, and the increased number of guards and their level supplements a defense but doesn't do much on their own.
So on a server like desolation which pretty much only has EU players, and most of who don't play late into the night, we stand no chance against servers who do have nighttime players, as those people are night will just capture everything and gain a large number of points before any defenders wake up and start preparing to capture stuff back. This is in part why people are leaving desolation and GW2, it just isn't as fun going into a match against other servers that you can't compete evenly against. During prime time it's fun and there are some great battles, but when everyone knows that they will lag behind in points every night, people just start to give up, hoping the next match up will be against other servers who play mainly at prime time.

Actually at prime time desolation did well, and could stand our ground against the other servers. We aren't quite as organized as Vizunah or Shiverpeeks yet but still we did well when we could get people on. Like in the latest reset an orb raid was planned among some of the big guilds and when the servers reset we killed the germans defending their orb, but then got killed by the other attacking server (who then got killed by the germans). Once the germans got their orb and we killed the other attacking server to get them out of the way we just attacked the german keep, killed all their players, took the orb and secured it in our keep.
As usual though, we all went to sleep, and woke up to everything being captured by the other servers. So it's not a matter of we can't work together, or that we are not good enough to compete, we've proven we can. It's just that we can't compete at nighttime.
Lol on Desolation , I had my guild claim Greenlake yesterday morning in Seafarers borderlands. We stayed at the tower for the entire day, pretty much 12 hours, upgraded it fully, every upgrade. Kept Greenwater and Champions supply camps under our control as much as possible. Tower never fell once during the 12 hours that we had guild members stationed inside it on defense. Logged at midnight, woke this morning at 6am to find it had been taken by the germans along with almost all the map. Pretty demoralising, but then again we had a hoot of a time holding the tower for 12 hours. Would like to see more bonuses for a guild who claim and hold though as an added incentive for more guilds to do so.
It's everyone else that's the problem 
The time I joined Tomb in WvWvW and we held the tower most of the day, yet constantly the greenwater supply camps were lost as no one bothered to defend it.. Just seemed to be really poorly organised, so not surprised at the trouble happening for Desolation.
