Yes. Scoring goals, the key ability of any full back. Not anything to do with their defending
in a game we won? infact, we've only lost one game since the opening day of the season.
i've openly said walker is bonkers and has lacklustre positioning. it's not our fault if opposing teams don't seem to take advantage of this or maybe it's because vert is good at saving our skins. see the qpr game for an example.
It's an irrelevant point to make, it's just another dig at another club.
It's half of the reason I post so little in here, the Football Stadium is more about petty point scoring then discussing football. It's a massive shame.
The way you've harped on about L'pool in recent threads / weeks is a hilarious example of it. I don't see how posting comments designed to wind up other members and have digs at clubs isn't just being a wind up merchant.
You can discuss football and football clubs without point scoring.

oh right ok. so my response to one more solo's comment saying he didn't think vert's performance against united, (a game we won and he scored in) would make him the best person to teach walker some basics was out of line?
vert is a cb, looks to be a very good one. walker can definitely learn something from him.

Scoring goals doesn't equal a good performance, espeically not from a centre back, most would take a clean sheet and a good performance over a 'ok' performance and scoring goals, look at the interview with Le Fonte recently who said he'd rather play well with a clean sheet then score goals.
Can you point out why you winning that game is relevant, or do you just enjoy saying it?
Also, the role of a centre back is different to full back, so no, there is only so much a centre back can teach a full back, that's not to discredit whatever a centre back teaches.
He started the match and it seems he only came off just to give someone a run out, he wasn't injured or flagging etc. It was just well won so off he came.

Does anyone else think that the passing is often relied from the CB's to the forwards all the time for England? Every game it's like you have a row of 4 forwards going at the goal and then two CB defenders throwing long balls forward. Our midfield seems to come from our defenders, it's really shocking, but not surprising either. I still think 4-3-2-1 or 4-3-3 is our best set-up. 4-4-2 is like every man for himself when attacking.

What? Vertonghen played very well against UtdGiven Vertonghen's performance at full back against us I'm not sure he is the best teacher.
Just made all the more impressive considering it's not even his normal position

Also that isn't a dive by Bale, he looks as though his right foot is hit across behind his left and it trips him due to the defend, not sure I'd call it a penalty but in no way a dive. A bit like Torres at the WC except he didn't do the 360 spin as the sniper got the headshot.

The more I think of it, 2014 is all about these 4 teams.

He didn't dive but he went down easier than a cash strapped hooker handed a fifty.
The way he fell wasn't overly natural but that would trip you, I've done it before.
