Arrow Sky 1

The fighting has been woeful so far, in the pilot you get the showboating parkour style chasing the guys down which was frankly painful to watch as well as the bullets missing him thing. The second ep had even more guns shooting at him and largely stupidity involved. It has potential but it needs to be less CW, less showy about combat and less teen angsty and just better.

Meh, CW, not much hope for it, start with a good idea and then get worse pretty much every episode, more over the top, more ridiculous decisions by characters, etc, etc.

I mean, so far its very much feeling like every single episode will be , threaten criminal rich guy, criminal rich guy refuses, fight through his guys and force him to pay then a side story of a little more of his island experience, a little more of conspiracy and a little more over the top action every week. It already feels painfully predictable.

The problem I guess with these shows is, super hero's/comic's on tv aren't new, and they all follow such a similar thread, it already feels like I know the entire story behind the other two having an affair and plotting to kill the husband, and what, is the island going to turn out to be some mystical place where it was his alter ego or some manifestation teaching him to be "the arrow". The kid sister will get in trouble at some point and he'll earn her respect/love again by saving her, etc, etc.

Overall I think thats where it will fail, so many different super hero's and they picked Batman the dark knight, put him in green and gave him an arrow. Revenge for a father murdered, a city gone to crap, corruption AND protecting his ex girlfriend in the DA's office.... i mean, seriously? Batman gets almost as much coverage as Superman, cartoons, films, its painfully well known so of ALL the super hero's and storys, they make one almost identical.

You can at least say with Smallville that they were focusing on Superman growing up and based the entire show on before he even puts the suit on, at least they tried to do not the same as the films/cartoon's(most of them) part of the story even if it was fundamentally the same anyway. This, it really is just the Dark knight mark 2/green.

I know they recently said otherwise but if this is good it would be so full of win to see the more 'well known' characters make cameo's in the future

After watching the pilot and then reading this thread drunkenmaster has it spot on imo, it's really painful to watch some of the scenes especially the running on rooftop freestyle crap.

Sadly, this seems to be the case.

And, let's face it, this is the reason.

Thought it was okay, was hoping for something to really hook me like the Walking Dead but totally different kinds of shows in the end. Reckon ill give this a few more episodes and then I can see me getting bored with it if it doesn't pick up

its not a reality show featuring people going on a 'journey'

therefore its worth watching

Green Arrow was always a bit more morally ambiguous than batman and willing to step over the line than batman wouldnt...they are both a product of DC comics so it seems unfair to criticise the program makers for the source material

I actually thought the second episode was a lot better that the first - I'll give it a few more episodes before passing any verdict, though I will say his sister is amazing hawt :D

T'wasn't bad t'wasn't brilliant either I'll give it a few more episodes but I'm not holding my breath.

Although I do like the approach of the character **** capturing/imprisoning etc... Kill the ****ers!

Haven't we got the new sub forum for America discussion?

Haven't watched it yet (sky+ first one last night)but not hopeful now! :(

dont worry..it was perfectly entertaining

its a TV show based on a 40's cartoon strip..people shouldnt read too much into it..theres also only so much they can get away with on prime time TV..so its not overly technical or violent..though at least they do kill people
