Anyone Tried The £14.99 "New PC" Win 8 Pro Offer ?

does this mean then we can use the iso/mount to usb later? i don't have a usb on my annoyingly it's in the car somewhere else so i can't do what i plan. is it best then to save to media on pc and then mount that or whatever later to the usb?

u had the option to make a dvd or usb in the upgrade assistant

No different to getting a cheap version of Windows 7 for students or Windows 7 upgrade and doing a clean install when you're not or a student or don't have a valid license to upgrade.

Whether it's right or wrong is hard to say. It breaches the terms of sale, most people are not eligible for this offer, that's for sure.

Are you looking for some sympathy or something? If you can't afford it, don't buy it. Fairly simple really. Nobody wants to hear about your financial plight.

In any case, you missed the part where I said "MS have left it wide open for abuse, so it's not surprising really." I couldn't really care less what people do, it just amuses me that some people won't even pay £25 for an OS.

there is a link in your email that you follow and it will redownload it (or put it on usb etc)

its just a similar program than the "win upgrade" program instead its called "win setup" and skips the buying bit.

it has to be the same machine. so creating a new "machine" and putting win8 on means it wont install. upgrade/install it on your win7 VM from step 1.

Did you have internet? I did at 1st then afer a couple of reboots lost it??

I got the upgrade, tried the clean install and it would not activate, told me my license would not allow a clean install, had to then put 7 back on and then upgrade from it, it then created the windows.old folder to which I cleaned up.

Would this upgrade a windows 8 install maybe. It'll be a pain if I have to start from a blank disk, install windows 7 in order to get windows 8 upgrade

As long as windows is on the drive it'll be fine, people are upgrading from the 8 RTM and even pirated 7 copies.

If MS could get every pirate copy to upgrade to a real win8 key via cheap offers, they'd declare it a massive success via 'economies of scale'. So maybe its on purpose but glad to hear its not too picky as the direct route is giving me strife (former hdd had bad sectors, etc)

Cant get past the sodding registration process still.

just says im not eligible for the upgrade, entered Dell as the retailer and the XPS 8500 as the pc model.
Could it be that im doing this from Firefox?

And how is it a rip off? Its a system you use every time you turn on the pc to use it its the only essential piece of software that you will use, you are happy to pay £30 for a game, but don't use it even a quarter of the amount that you use windows.

I am for the sake of argument, ignoring linux etc, as the talk here revolves around MicroSoft.
