Its taken 24hours but he's just gone through the motions, somewhat messy given his state, but at least we know his bits & bobs are working and he can do his business.

The emergency vet last night stressed that this was the most crucial aspect of measuring his prognosis, bodily functions = a very very good chance of a full recovery.

great news, hope he has a full recovery. Did he escape and find his way to the road or do you let him out? My kitten is over 4 months and we never let the blighter out near the front, as much as she trys to escape.
 
Good stuff OP, hopefully he'll be back right as rain soon. Hopefully now he has learnt his lesson and will stay away from the road / be more cautious. Did this happen on the bank?
 
Hope that he gets better! To echo what some other people have said, cats are remarkable creatures. One of ours jumped off a flat roof which was 3 stories high (she's a bit psycho...), and recovered just fine....in fact, the vet thought all that happened was that one of her legs popped out of the joint.

I'm not trolling. I was simply stating a fact. You own a cat. You let the cat roam the streets for most of the day. It will probably come home when it wants to be fed. Then it roams the streets again. And then you cat people complain when the dam thing gets run over. What do you expect? :rolleyes:
