Why PC gaming? Advantages over console?

Simple answer is to own a gaming PC and both the worthwhile consoles and laugh at all the petty squabbling.

Which is what I have done lol.

Though to be honest the PS3 is relegated to a glorified media player. Which it is rather good at.

The whole 'I just turn my console on and its ready to play' is no where near as good as 'I turn my pc on and in 20 seconds I have Steam loaded with ALL my games and I just click play' no need for an optical drive.

PC only, mouse, keyboard, graphics, steam and a decent SSD :D Can only use console controllers for driving games and even then it is not as fun as a wheel set-up.

The only thing I really liked about the XBOX was the boxing games, wish a game developer would release them for the PC.

But then I can't remember the last time people were waiting on new graphics drivers to get decent performance on a new release ;)

consoles should only be for causal entertainment

for example, marios games zelda's sports games etc.

shooters shouldnt be on consoles fullstop. unless their consoles exclucives. like uncharted or MGS.

hate how publishers/developers are treating the consoles as a hardcore platform and ruining the pc's games in the process. like cod BF crysis, splinter cell etc.

consoles users are being taken for a ride by developers/publishers. people think consoles are state of the art, their graphics are the best, game is rendered in 1080p cause that's what the set the tv 2 in the xbox settings .....

and then DLC ....

Because now and then games like day z come along which are just better than anything else out there

Probably one game id never play on a PC and keep on the PS3. The Assassins creed line.

whys that then ? the 360 pad works fine on pc why would you want to play a worse looking version of a game you like granted the pc version will no doubt just be a washed out low res looking port but at least you can put anti aliasing on.

I also have played them all on my PS3 so far, but I bought the bundle for PC in the summer sale and it looks much better. I'm thinking of getting the latest on the PC now.

Why was there a GT Academy from GT5 then? if it's only supposed to be casual. The best then made it to the TV show for further eliminations around Silverstone and those that made it got a chance to race in teams for the 24 hour race in Abu Dhabi.

This as well...

The last I recall there is no rule on how someone uses a console or PC.

The only thing i really prefer in console gaming is the slouching on the sofa/beanbag. Something that isn't really logistically feasible with a PC.

Not to mention customising you PC and it being faster and more powerful and able to produce a more beautiful and immersive gaming environment that the most powerful console could ever dream of. etc. etc.

I actually take issue with this statement. Not because it's not true (it is, PCs are obviously more powerful than consoles), but because whenever people say how much more powerful computers are over consoles, I simply think "who cares?".

Yes, my PC is more powerful than my two consoles. My new laptop will be more powerful than both consoles. So what? I bet lots of people on here have PCs more powerful than mine. Does that mean I should upgrade my PC to the same level as theirs, simply so I can have the same "beautiful and immersive gaming environment" as they do?

For me, gaming is all about the fun I have when I play a game. If I enjoy playing a game in full HD res on my computer with AA and all the bells and whistles turned on, so be it. If it means playing it on my Xbox while slumped on the couch, that's fine. Hell, if it means I play it on my PS Vita or my iPad, as long as I'm enjoying playing the game, that's all the matters.

This, i like my Xbox 360, N64, Gamecube the same as my PC that plays games at max detail smoothly.

This is what i miss on console gaming. Don't even own a console just my pc. But its coming to a point where i'll be thinking about buying one soon.

GT5 is about as realistic as driving a boat around a track.

I use my computer to game because I like control. I can play a game, chat on msn, surf the web, use team speak and play music all at the same time.

Superior graphics, better games, better control system, upgradable, mods, better communitys, multipurpose.

Just a few of many pro's. The only cons are playing with friends over (unless you can LAN up then PC trumps consoles there too!) and the up-front cost of a PC.
