Why PC gaming? Advantages over console?

Let's be serious what household/person doesn't have a PC nowadays.

Even though consoles are cheap, you probably have a 200/300 pound laptop along with it.

A gaming PC on the other hand bundles all into one.

I play both, I've owned nearly every console that has come along since the Atari & got my first PC when I was nine, the PC has always for me been about versatility & quality, more diverse games & a more mature user base because of the prohibitive costs of a decent PC.
I still fire up my playstation/360 for driving games or sports games, though now days it only seems to get dusted off when a friends round, if a game I want is coming out on all formats I'll always pick it up on PC unless either a friend is getting the same game on console or the reviews tell me the PC version is a poor port of the console version.

build a decent pc and you wont ever want to go back to consoles. the people who use the argument that consoles are better because they are cheaper are people who have crap computers

Well, the Uncharted series isn't on the PC.

my just turns straight on and i dont have graphical issues, and yea pc's are more money but you get a better experience, its like

console=a normal car that anyone can get into and drive, pretty cheap for what it is doesnt excel at anyone thing and isnt very impressive but gets the job done

good gaming pc= sports or even super car, its more money and does the same job but does it better and is much more exciting

thats how it works in my head

Then why is it every year thread after thread about PC gaming and buggy drivers for new games, for endless months?

I hate consoles and the noobs that play them.

Spoken like a true child. Or do you just like to paint everyone with the same brush? ;)

Consoles are not free of bugs I'm afraid check out the Skyrim fiasco on playstation for a prime example & I think you'll find because PC's have such a wider breadth of hardware options driver problems are going to be an issue sometimes, but I think most PC gamers would still rather have a superior experience in 9 out of ten games than the average experience consoles provide in most games, I'm not saying it out of loyalty to PC or hate for a particular console, I'm saying it because it's the truth PC is a superior platform in nearly all respects.
Plus a lot of console gamers site expense as a negative of PC gaming but I've had 3 Xbox 360s two of which I paid full price for & one which was a replacement which was covered by warranty all died on me with RROD & I'm currently on my third Playstation 3 the first died of YLOD the second crashes constantly but works as a Blueray, cost in consoles is now more then I payed for my PC & games are cheaper on PC overall I'd say PC has been a cheaper option for me.

Another advantage is you will get great games that would just never work on the console as they're not a casual friendly game. Like the game in my sig for instance. Its also another game that has been brought to life with various mods.

Nice list Omaeka. I'd agree with most of that, apart from the 'try before you buy'. I'd say that was a con, rather than a pro in the long run, but that's for another topic :p.

I think Stalker is about as complex as Fallout tbh, maybe even less so. There are a lot of hardcore games on the consoles, although you are right about some games, like ArmA, which couldn't ever run on a consoles hardware, but I think there is a decent userbase for proper games, just look at the Souls series.

As for try before you buy, use the right trackers and you won't be on any statistics, so you won't get added to the number.

People say that PCgaming is more expensive but it is not always(possibly usually) the case. I can think of quite a few people I know who game on consoles and have a laptop/non-gaming PC as well. And with games being much cheaper on PC I would imagine that overall there isn't much in it.

I would have thought the biggest plus to PC gaming would be the far, far greater number and variety of games you can get.

For me it has always been the type of games that come out on PC, that dont on Console.

Civilisation, Baldurs Gate, Total War series, Sins of a Solar Empire, even Starcraft - if consoles had these kinds of games, or even games of this depth, I would switch.

But they dont. So Ill stick with my PC for the time being.

Multipurpose - I mainly use mine for browsing, music and videos
Keyboard and mouse - Far superior when gaming
2560 x 1440 resolution looks a lot better than 1080p
PC unique games - e.g. Starcraft 2

Still love console gaming - I have a SNES and did first to ten on Mario Kart with one of my housemates then first to ten on Super Street Fighter 2. 10 - 4 to me, then 10 - 4 to him. Tonight will be a good re-match

Oh god...Seen this discussion a hundred times, just get both if you can't make up your mind, both have their pros and cons and i play on both, although i tend to watch movies more on my Xbox 360 which i purchased through the store.

There is games I prefer on the PC. There is also games I prefer on consoles.

My solution have them both. win win then :)

You can hide your pr0n better from the missus on a PC.;)

There is a Wii, 360, Ds, Xoom and the PC in the house, I can't get near the PC until my boy goes to bed as he's always on it playing games-that are also on the consoles.

I find the older a given generation of consoles gets the more I turn to my PC for gaming. When a new generation turns up my time goes back to consoles.
