*** The Official Samsung Galaxy Note II Thread ***

Nice, I keep seeing that but I'm nervous of going through eBay. I'd rather spend £480 and go to O2, so I can at least kick off with them in a highstreet store if I need to.

Mine was from a UK seller with decent feedback with a history of high value item sales.

So i felt it would be worth it.

Got mine as an upgrade this afternoon calling into the local T-Mobile store, online and over the phone are completely oos. Cost me £300 up front, though the website was saying £340 and I get to keep my current £15.86 per month tariff which gives 300 mins, 300 txts and unlimited net.

Worked it out as a Note 2 LTE for £28.36 a month which I didn't think was bad. Phone is a big upgrade from the Wildfire it replaced :D.

Nice!

Which headphones are people using? Are the android ones such as Klipsch S4A (with inline controls) compatible with the note 2?

Using my Sennheiser MM70i 's . Got them nearly 2 years ago and they're still sweet, shame only the play/pause button works and not the volume up or down / fwd or back with the note 2. Also own a pair of Audio Technica M50's which sound great.

I was wondering, how do I add another home screen on my note 2-touchwiz. Max is 7?

How can I use some sort of tablet mode on the homescreen - some form of landscape mode? Any way at all?

Does power saving mode have that much difference on battery life?

Lastly has anybody found that when the samsung note 2 wall charger is plugged in - it makes a whining whirring noise, really really annoying...... or is mine just defective?

I have those too, after 50 hours of breaking in they sounded awesome, then the left speaker broke outside warranty :(

I'd miss the volume controls so I'd been looking at a set of android ones.

So 2A to charge a 3100mah(3.1A) would take jsut over an hour and a half to fully charge.

In theory, it should be a little over an hour:

The battery is 3100mA.hr, operating at 3.7V; this is 11.47W.hr.

So, with a 10W charge, you're looking at a theoretical charge time (from zero to 100%) of 1.147hrs; roughly 69mins.

Actual charge times should be fairly close to this with a high quality charger, so expect to charge for about an hour from a near-flat (~10%) battery.

In practice though, it's closer to two hours for a full charge. Some of that will be down to inefficiencies in the electrical conversion process (loss of energy as heat while charging etc), but it shouldn't make that big of a difference (20-30% maybe). I suspect that the actual current delivered is more like 1.4 to 1.5A (7 to 7.5W).

Yeah but you charge at the rated voltage so your going off battery capacity. So 3100mah from flat at 3.1A is 1C charge rate, so 1 hour. But even though the battery should still have 20% in it (the phone says 0% but that's so the battery doesn't fully discharge) so you're only needing to put 80% of 3100 in, so it should take less than an hour at 1C, but it's not at 1C it's nearer 2/3C.

The charger operates (in theory) at 5v, 2A. This is 10W (power = voltage x current). This is the electrical energy being passed to the battery by the charger. The battery has a fixed energy capacity (measured in W.hrs), so you can work from there.

You're feeding energy into an energy-storage cell. Anything lost beyond that is due to inefficiencies somewhere down the line.

The charger can deliver 10W Max, yes. But the phone's firmware limits the power well below the max 10W for some valid reason. Either way expect around a 2hr charge time.

You know regarding warranty, It comes with 2 years......
Do we have to register the warranty / device? I got mine on contract with O2. It says the warranty card must be filled in, and is that it?

The date of purchase is when I received it from O2 and they're the dealer too and the dealers address??

A few thoughts...

I have had my Note 2 LTE for 3 days now, moving on from an HTC Sensation (which now feels tiny all of a sudden) hehe.

Overall i am blown away with the Note 2. Speed, Screen, Battery etc. Can't fault it. We all know what its good at so I won't babble on.

Here are a few things that are buggin me, some of which are Samsung traits as I remember some of the same issues from briefly owning a Galaxy S2.

1. The Samsung keyboard does not auto complete suggested word so typing is slightly delayed sometimes when typing fast.

2. Changing the keyboard to something like Swiftkey 3 is fine until you want to use split screen then its an issue as it doesn't detach or move.

3. I find the lock screen & pin lock options very limiting. I like my phone to always come out of standby into the lock screen but I like to set a delay for when the PIN lock is activated. This simply isn't an option, it was the same on my S2. If you set a delay for PIN lock it goes straight to the home screen from standby.

4. Only 10gb is available on the 16gb model and I can't move apps to the SD like I could on my Sensation. So I am fast running out of space. I don't really want to ROOT either so hoping Samsung sort this out.[/INDENT]

5. Delay when waking the phone up with the power button is slightly annoying too..

Overall though, this is an epic device and if these issues were fixed it would be the perfect device!!
