*** The Official Google Nexus 7 Thread ***

Got the OTA last night (rooted with TWRP, but stock 4.1.2). Installed fine and working like a dream. Will have to re-root and reinstall recovery but OK for now.

Really liking the new alarm dialogue, great when you're half asleep and can't deal with words or small things!

Could someone please remind me the procedure for forcing
the update on the nexus 7, i think there's a system process
that needs to be force stopped and the cache cleared but
cannot remember which...

woot! Cleared services framework cache and OTA 4.2 suddenly appears.

You're a star!! That worked for me too!!

Edit: OTA update failed although I had stock recovery. Later realised it was because I had modified the LCD density - build.prop file. Reverted it back to normal and OTA worked fine!

Only thing is, now I have to re-root to restore my tablet-like LCD density!

Just decided to get a Nexus 7 over a Kindle Fire HD.
I was on my way to the checkout with a fire HD earlier when I decided to read up on the Nexus 7 first (put the kindle back of course)
The only thing the Kindle HD seems to have over the Nexus is a better screen and sound quality

anyone know how long it takes to get back from ASUS?

my launch one the screen became very loose on it and the screen bleed was killer.

I sent it Tuesday and i miss it already :(

I just bought a 16GB one of these from the google store for £168 inc seems like a lot of tablet for the money, Looking forward to receiving it. I wanted a 32GB but not for £200..

Edit - Just cancelled that and gone for the high street pc shop 32GB offer. £213 with £20 cashback and case. Collect tomorrow :-)

Just picked mine up, It has auto updated itself too Android 4.2. Seems nice so far I have been using Android 3.2 so going to 4.2 is a little strange.

Yup, unfortunately only touchwiz :(

However, you can get apps on the market that "float" on top of the screen when another app is running etc.

i.e. browsers:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=gpc.myweb.hinet.net.PopupWeb&feature=nav_result

https://play.google.com/store/apps/...riendisageek.airbrowser&feature=search_result

And then for playing back videos, you can use BS player lite, the pop out window, which can be resized.

And there are other apps for the likes of calculator etc. like the above ones.

There is a high street store that has the 32gb in stock, so id save the google p&p cost, and i could get it straight away.
The only question is that this high street stores is crap with a customer service to match. If something wasnt right with the N7, will i be able to deal straight with the google customer service? Or should i just get it straight from google, pay the p&p and wait a few days?

Also i heard that you get £25 google play voucher, is that right because i also hear it was £15.
