I'm in the wrong job! £60 an hour for playing make believe!

Religious beliefs like that will always be considered mythology to those who don't believe in it simply because it's not observable. It's a bit cringe-worthy that you're even bringing that up.

Shock horror, loads of people are religious. I think it's about time people start to get over that people are religious and people aren't religious.

by not observable you mean not 1 single bit of proof in thousands of years?

anyway, im more interested in why people like this arent being classed as frauds and i would still like to hear these prophecies that were mentioned too

Bit difficult though when half of the population think the other half are nothing short of delusional!

Mr Khan felt cured by the exorcism because that's what he wanted to believe, not that he was possessed in the first place.

The brain is a very weird and powerful machine.

I think you will find the cringe-worthyness belongs to your post if you think that something that is totally bizarre but is not observable is good enough reason to believe in it's existence

In this instance, proof is highly subjective.

By observable, I'm talking about in an objective capacity. Religious people see things that prove religious beliefs to them, non religious people see things that prove their non religious beliefs to them.

anyway, im more interested in why people like this arent being classed as frauds and i would still like to hear these prophecies that were mentioned too

Because it's not fraud.

Well that's the problem, people are so up their own arses when it comes to subjects like this. People's stances often are simply "if you disagree with me you have issues/delusional/mental health problems/lacking intelligence."

I think you will find the cringe-worthyness belongs to your post if you think that something that is totally bizarre but is not observable is good enough reason to believe in its existence

Why? Because you can't accept that people believe in stuff you do not?

i wasnt saying you were a fraud  i was saying the guy in the OP other snakeoil salesmen like astrologers etc.

i was talking about vita and him saying the quran had predicted things 1400 years ago... i was curious what they were...

i find it hard to believe in things just because someone told me something that cannot be proved and show no logical method to come up with that.

for example i believe in evolution as we can see it around us. i believe in the big bang theory because it is credible and logical.

i dont believe in god because he has never been proven to exist

the problem is religion is trying to push how we live our lives. many of us are sick of it and the problems it causes in the world.

anyway, this is about frauds like exorcists, mediums, palm readers and all the other BS that is peddled to the weak of mind.

Because it's not fraud.

And how did you come to that conclusion?

No, that's fine. If people want to believe in talking snakes, and fairytales like that, they are more than entitled to. But when they use to con, deceive and abuse others is when the gloves come off.

Their beliefs have no more protection, than our own.

When somebody attempts a factual statement, tries to legislate or dictate from a position of faith, they must be challenged.

I would imagine you do the very same for scientific theories.

for example i believe in evolution as we can see it around us.

You are choosing to accept the "proof" as proof.

i believe in the big bang theory because it is credible and logical.

I find a lot of people don't really understand what "logical" really means.

Scientists can't even completely agree on these matters, for all intents and purposes you are just observing from the outside.

Based on what you deem as proof. Some people believe certain things prove the existence of god, as I said proof is subjective when you're talking about things like this.

the problem is religion is trying to push how we live our lives. many of us are sick of it and the problems it causes in the world.
Religion isn't doing this, people are. Scientific people do the very same thing, the only difference is that you don't mind when it's pushed on you because it's what you want to accept.

anyway, this is about frauds like exorcists, mediums, palm readers and all the other BS that is peddled to the weak of mind.

That's the point I'm trying to make. What makes you think you are qualified to claim people who believe in such things are weak minded? Is it because they have a belief system that contrasts your own?

And how did you come to that conclusion?

Well if you go and look up the definition of fraud you'd realise why it isn't fraud.

No, that's fine. If people want to believe in talking snakes, and fairytales like that, they are more than entitled to. But when they use to con, deceive and abuse others is when the gloves come off.
What I don't get is why people like you feel the need to respond to people's beliefs like this, derisory comments simply because they believe in something you do not.

Just because you don't believe in it, or it might not be true doesn't necessarily mean that it's a con or fraud.

Their beliefs have no more protection, than our own.

No they don't, I completely agree with that but it doesn't mean you can label things as frauds and cons just because you don't believe it.

When somebody makes a factual statement, tries to legislate or dictate from a position of faith, they must be challenged.

I agree with that too, but I don't think that's the issue here.

doh, misread it (heavy weekend lol).

you are saying exorcists arent frauds? i would say they are...

Why would you say that they are frauds?
