*** Official Planetside 2 Thread ***

TR if you want traditional weapons and lots of zerging, VS if you want an alien vibe, NC if youre into sado masochism. Although they should be getting some loving in the new patch, just not the type they like.

NC much more challenging

i've went NC seems far to many people picking other teams as they seem to be dominating atm and they are slightly stronger. makes it more fun when you have more enemys to kill :)

me= NC

Got around 1000 certs to spend... struggling to decide whether to start building up my max suits, or aim for the liberator Dalton gun (I love that Dalton lol). I was spending a lot of time as an anti-air max.. so might try out the max stuff (Although I'm not sure I would like to get caught without an anti-infantry weapon!

if i pick a faction do i have to stick with them or can i change? If not can i create multiple accounts

I might go the alien type team as its something differnt if i want normal guns etc i get that from cod, bf etc anyway

Well I had a bit of good news today, so I've decided to treat myself

I'm planning on buying 2500 SC, or maybe 5000 SC, depending how the mood takes me...

Can anyone give me a run down of some good gear/guns to buy?
I play NC on Woodman

Infantry
  • Infiltrator - I rarly play the class because I get bored of sniping, so I want an automatic weapon so I can get in there and be all sneaky sneaky, with a decent gun to back me up, rather then just a pistol.
  • Light Assualt - I'm pretty happy with my basic setup here, don't use him much except when I'm Rambo'ing on my own.
  • Combat Medic - My most played class, again I'm quite happy with the basic gun, but I'm open to recommendation on something else.
  • Engineer - Rarly play it, so don't really want to spend anything.
  • Heavy Assualt - I'm using the GD-22S at the moment with no compliants, is the Hawk upgrade worth purchasing?
  • MAX - Only use it for base defence and a bit of AA, so basic setup suits me.
Vehicles
  • Flash - Hah!
  • Sunderer - I already have the deploy function and generally I let other people spawn them.
  • Lightning - I bought the Skyguard already and I'm pretty disappointed with, not sure if anythihng else is worth grabbing.
  • Vanguard - Not sure what to grab here, only thing I have is the A10 Walker for the turret.
  • Reaver - Again I have the basic setup, thinking about the A2AM for dogfighting.
  • Liberator - I would definately like to upgrade this, mainly the belly gun, not sure if it's worth doing anything about the tail or front gun.
  • Galaxy - Rarly used, someone else always seems more eager then me to redeploy to the warp gate to grab one.
Any suggestions or feedback would be appreciated :)

If I were you I'd hold off on buying the station cash in case SOE do a double or even triple station cash deal for xmas. Use the time between now and then to try various vehicle weapons out?

Id get the AA for the MAX, that's what I'm saving up for next. I bought the L100 Python AP for the lighting, and i like it for anti armor.

So i've got a:-
E8400 running at 4Ghz
4 Gb of RAM
and a 6950 2Gb
all in a DFI Lanparty DK P45 T2RS Plus

And my FPS isn't great, even in medium setting. Im gessing that the6950 is fine but im being held back a lot by the CPU and the RAM. So im thinking of getting a small upgrade, and spending about £300 on a new motherboard CPU and RAM, but im unsure what to get. Any suggestions as its been hard to keep up with what is currently good buys, especially with the Motherboard, as DFI is no longer a option.

I have a similar spec (lower with my 5770) and am on 40-50fps with most stuff on low and textures on medium.

Everyone gets crap FPS in the thick of it due to lack of CPU optimization in Planetside 2.
Whilst you would probably see a fair gain in getting an i5 and OCing to 4ghz+, if you already have 20-35 fps in massive fights I doubt you'll see much, if any improvement there since I can vouch that even with an i7 @ 4ghz I get that framerate.

Still probably worth upgrading though, personally i'd suggest an i5 2500k with a decent Z68 motherboard to OC the crap out of it.

so annoyed.. played 46 hours, saved up 1000 certs to use on something sexy. Then in the heat of the moment I purchased a 2nd anti infantry weapon, for the wrong arm. I bought it for the left, rather than the right... ARGGHHHHHHHHHH

Not everyone :p

Really? The lowest I see is 42 fps and that's with Ultra useroptions.ini tweak.

Raise a ticket - they'll refund you.

I did when I bought the Skygaurd and realised it had been nerfed to hell since beta!
