*** The Official Google Nexus 7 Thread ***

Volume issues, my mate was round on xmas day, hes had his for a few months

I put youtube on and he was like wow thats loud! his was rubbish very quiet

A quick google later and i found that an equaliser app he had from the market was to blame, he uninstalled it and his volume was back to the same as mine

Apparently these equalizer/boost apps actually can cause problems, not sure if its some kind of protection

Picked up my Nexus 7 this evening but it was DOA :(, charged it up and when I powered it up all I got was a black screen with white static on the screen :(.

Tried to boot into bootloader but it just did the same, took it back and should get a replacement early next week.

I've seen and read a few times when you get static looking screen its normally whom the charge gets low.but if you charged it can't be that.

i take it you got it online? or they should have just swapped it for you.

Got a Nexus 7 today as a present :-)
Anyway noticed issues with the left hand side, sort of stretch marks all along the inside and a slight bit of the infamous screen lift. Should I just get a case and forget about it or bring it back and hope for better?

Got a refund from the store I bought mine in because they said they won't have any back in stock to replace it until February. Ordered my replacement from the play store, should get it on Monday. Anyone had to return one to the play store, whats the process like? Hopefully I won't have to but I might just keep it if the screen lift is minimal

i waited for the otter box but then got the gumdrop one and with the kids using i have to say i am very happy with it

No, not online they just didnt have any in store and had to order this one in for me :(
I couldn't find anywhere near me that had any in stock at all.

I'm quite tempted to get one of these but I'm worried that it's 6 months into it's life and another will appear 6 months time.

What are the chances of that actually happening?

about as likely as any other device getting an upgrade at the half year stage

So when I said it's been 6 months since release and another will appear in 6 months, that's 12 months (or a year in other words)

I'm really tempted by one of these. Prices are so cheap at the moment as well. it's either this or a 10" tablet - and the Tab 2 seems a bit disappointing performance wise, and the nexus 10 is annoying it it's lack of external memory card (I know the 7 doesn't have one either - but if I was going for a 10" I'd want an external card).

I don't REALLY need one, but it's a nice step between a phone and a computer. I don't really want an apple product either. From what I've read here they seem to be pretty spot on in terms of performance too.
