Who here owns a Renaultsport?

Hey guys, was just wondering is £2500 enough for a reasonable condition 182 with belts done etc or should i look at either a 172 or scraping some more money together?

you tried Brentacre Maccy? I thought I was going to be the same when I first got the car last year but I got below £500 just about, and mods are free up to 190bhp @ flywheel.

Esure were by far the cheapest for me on the R26, I think the next nearest quote was up in the 500s.

£380 or so, 28 with 7 years NCB.

Any thoughts on this advert for my car? (any bits with XXX are bits I need to double check the info/provide info for).

Thanks

Condition:

• Despite my best efforts (ie. Parking the other side of car parks when visiting the shops) there are some minor dents in both the passenger side and driver’s side. For the most part, these are only noticed in certain light or at certain angles. However, the most recent one has caused some paint to also be taken off, leaving a visible mark
• Passenger side wing mirror cover is scraped and missing paint
• The Turinis do have signs of curbing, with one wheel in particular being quite bad
• Other than these points the condition inside and out is good

History:

I purchased this car in April 2010 (it was on 51k miles) and during my ownership I have taken extremely good care of the car. I had some bad luck after only six weeks of ownership when, during acceleration, the engine ‘dropped a valve’ which completely destroyed the engine. The car was on around 52k miles at this time and the engine was replaced with another which I sourced from a Clio 182 which had been written off following a rear collision (ie. No damage to the front of it).

The replacement engine was on 41k miles at the time of me purchasing it and has performed brilliantly since it’s been in my car. When the engine was replaced all of the belt kits were replaced, however about 1 month later in July (roughly) my dephaser pulley needed replacing.

The dephaser pulley was replaced and the belts were again changed at this time. Therefore the belts will not need changing for quite some time.
The condition of the car is good, however as mentioned above there are some door dings which have been caused by inconsiderate people in car parks, etc.

One important thing to note is that whilst the car was first registered in the UK, it is one of the Renaultsport Clios which is considered a grey import. The only difference between this and a non-import Clio is that my Clio doesn’t have an alarm and there are no security etchings on the windows (as a result of not having an alarm).

I have created a short video tour of the car which you can view here – XXXX

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions you have. The best form of contact is via text or calling my mobile on 07740 XXXXXX. I’m happy to let people test drive the car upon proof of valid fully comprehensive insurance. If you do not have insurance then I will happily take you for a spin myself.

Any obvious things I have missed? I will check my service history and add that as well.

If you were closer I'd considerate it (wish some cash my way of course ;)), but I'm too lazy. Plus, my Turinis aren't in the best condition so you'd probably want them refurbed.

I'm hoping they make it a bit more appealing (despite their condition) over others being sold.

Esure don't allow mods, will give Brentacre a call this evening although I can't see their opening hours?

This is the only problem, fairly sure they're only open office hours. Have only called them when I'm at work generally. But they're very good to deal with.

Saint - Sargara whom posted earlier on has a 250 :)

Did you go for Brembo HCs?

What discs did you put on the rear?

Mine needs a new set all round soon. Not sure if I should go for drilled oem discs and the oem pads, or HCs and DS2500s...

Na I went for KTR black edition front & rear grooved disks with Ferodo DS2500 pads. Just don't plant your foot too hard without your seat belt on or you will end up through the window ;)

You could go for the Brembo HC's and genuine Renault rear disks if you want to do it cheaper and the standard genuine brembo/renault pads.

As I want to get stage 1 done, maybe 2, it is why I decided to up rate them a bit. If you do go standard disks though, I'd highly recommend going fo the Ferodo pads!

Had some bad news that the insurance companies are making my car a total loss after the neighbour reversed into the side of it on Boxing Day. I had only just had the Turinis refurbed last month and two new tyres!

That's one of the few iceberg silver cups with climate control gone :(
I seriously loved that car :(

All because of some one being lazy/daft/incapable.

Can anyone remember off their head what the normal idle on a 182 is, and what the higher idle is after it has been done with the RSTuner?

Mine doesn't seem to be happy idling this week... pulls fine though. Mine's idling a bit less than 1K.

Spoke to Adrian Flux last night, they've quoted me £575 for the year although I don't think this includes any named drivers so may be able to get it lower.

Depending on your age, give GreenLight or Brentacre a call. They have always been the cheapest for me on Renaultsports. Worth a shot at least :)
