Who here owns a Renaultsport?

My R26.

Really want one for my next car after my 182 i think. Couple of years down the road though I reckon.

Will be parking my car up for a couple of montha on Tuesday. Hopefully going to take it for a bit of a hoon before as I have knee surgery on Wednesday so boo. Also needs a proper wash after as its filthy!

What was it before Westy? I had a neighbour reverse into the side of my clio boxing day morning. Luckily he left a note, just hoping insurance does not write it off.

I will get some pics up at some stage but the stress has been a nightmare.

:(

My renewal came through yesterday, they wanted £730! Managed to find a quote through Confused.com with my current insurer for £599!

I think I've got a bit of an itch for the 250/265 even though I know I have more pressing financial issues to take care of first :/....

Do it! You can pickup lightly used examples cheaper than new 200's. The facelift 265 has helped lower the 250 prices also.

Im loving my 250 Cup it feels a lot more special than the other RenaultSports ive owned previously. I guess part of that is due to the rarity but also the Mk3 Megane platform feels a very modern, well designed place to be indeed.

It is one of the only cars that tickles my fancy at the moment. But having said that I can help but think I could get a lot more (admitedly more used and higher mileage) car for the money. But then again running costs would match and in all likelihood wouldn't be as much fun!

Realistically it's probably about 2 years away but no harm in dribbling over it in the meantime!

No real updates from me, as I've had a knee operation and thus haven't been driving.

Going to be sorting the Exhaust mounts out though within a few weeks as it was rattling on the rear exhaust surround like mad before I had my operation. Tigerseal/other similar product is going to be the way I think. Bit more forgiving than what I was originally going to do. Also, not paying £60 for 2 ofthe racing mounts. Not until I've tried out a cheaper method :)

Might be due an oil change too as its done 5k and from what I've seen people seem to reccomend 6k changes on them?

Other than a proper clean, theres not a lot more to say. Think I need to get the alignment done properly as I think my tyres are edging a bit.

On my exhaust mounts I've used radiator hose to 'plug' the gaps which are in turn held in with cable ties. Works a treat and still gives it a little bit of flex. Are you sure its not the actual metal heatshields that are rattling? They sometimes wear through the washers requiring an oversized one to be placed behind the bolt instead.

Yeah most specialists recommend an oil change every 6k to ensure the longevity of the dephaser pulley.

Seeing as the dephaser is a little noisy (slightly tractor like lol) I'd better change it. Plan is to get the belts and dephaser done August kind of time tbh which would probably see me with the 6k miles again really.

I've tried sockets in the mounts, have had new OEM mounts and it just won't hold it in place properly.
It's fairly difficult because it's a Miltek apparently, and there was a batch that didn't fit perfectly, and it looks like I have one of them.
So, going to clamp the exhaust in place where it wants to be, and then fill the gaps on the mount with some flexible product to provide a bit of flex, but hold it in the correct position also.

Just had my 5 year service done on my R26 which unfortunately meant I had all the following doing.

5 Year service - Motul Engine oil 5w - 40, Oil filter, Pollen filter diagnostic check.
Cambelt + tensioners
Auxiliary belt & tensioners
Camshaft end seals
Water pump

Then I knew it was coming soon, but not this soon and had to have new disks and brake pads all round.

Total bill: £1406

Bad times being Christmas, but safe to say K-Tec did a decent job. Was planning on going for their performance package when it went in but unfortunately with the brakes it will have to wait for the future.

I think they saw you coming! £1400 quid is a lot of cash even for the cambelt which is known to be steep on these and taking into account the other bits youve had done.

Did you not see I had brand new disks & pads all round? Then disks were upgraded from the standard Renault ones + Ferodo DS2500 pads those alone start adding the £'s up.

The cambelt, aux etc came to £455.00 didn't think that was too bad as Renault dealers were quoting £1000!
