You won't like this but I call shenanigans on this transfer.

Or is FM13 really screwed up? Because in previous version there is no way David Silva would accept 13k a week.
It happens dude :P Her can't fake a transfer either way :P
On my save Rodwell went from £70,000 a week to £1,300 a week playing in L1... and he was only 26! It depends on how long the player has been without a team and whether or not any clubs are interested.

:eek::eek::eek:

I'm struggling with buying and selling in the transfer window..

I've got about 3 hours left before the window closes (Sept 1st) and the only player I've been able to buy so far has been for top dollar. I am simply laughed at when I approach a million pound player with say £150k.. So what's the trick? I've checked general happiness and I've bid on ones that are transfer listed at request and unhappy, but they still shaft me...

Holy moly!!

2nd Season as Swansea and I am struggling to stay afloat (money is fine) as I am 14th coming out of winter transfer window...got 1 fantastic deal (I think so anyway) Jose Callejon on loan from Chelsea for £20K a week...Awesome as my backup-backup striker is long past his peak (Hernan Crespo) and my backup got loaned out, meant I had to bring a reserve loanee in and then got Callejon so I'm fine again :D

EDIT:
Easier to understand here:

Strikers:

Pap**** Cisse - 1st Choice
Danny Graham - 2nd Choice - Loaned out
Samuel Di Carmine - 3rd Choice/Reserve/loanee - Loaned out last minute
Hernan Crespo - Morale (keeps people happy) - bloody useless.
Jose Callejon - Loaned in - 2nd Choice

Haha can't blame you :p (though I am in the prem with Bishops Stortford)

Anyway this is his in game history

Has hardly played for years, offer him key player and not a lot of money and most players in this sort of situation turn up. Or they take a lot of money to be rotation and continue to bench warm, but even Wayne Bridge in real life is playing at Brighton so anything can happen ;) (and he's the biggest bench warmer out there)

Does anyone here create their own tactics? I'm a fairly casual player so i have always just downloaded tactics but i've decided to try and create them myself based on the team i have.

So far i've found that nothing works regardless of how talented my team is. Does anyone know of any guides on tactic building aimed at dummies like me?

Always create my own! Downloaded ones tend to be there to exploit the game more than show the football you want to play.

It's always bet to pick a formation and style of play you can win with but that also reflects the squad you have. So I play 4-1-2-2-1 (its 4-3-3- but with proper wingers and an anchor man) because it creates flowing and deadly attacking moves. But I have moulded the team into being good at that (right players and lots of training).

Also it takes AGES for a team to learn a tactic and be effective at it (months like in real life)...

That's good going up there well done. I can only dream of winning the SPL - Celtic are so rich and well-stocked with talent that I doubt anyone else will contend. They're already 10 points ahead and are winning all their games. I've been managing Kilmarnock for 3 seasons now and I've done really well - I've got a 4th and a 3rd place and this current season I'm lying in 4th at the mo (Oct) but I have also managed to reach the playoffs of the Europa League! I've done much better than expected there. All this is with a really paltry wage and transfer budget. I have been mostly reliant on free transfers (pretty much as in reality!). I really am stuck with Kilmarnock.

With all that said I STILL cannot get a decent job :D

I have applied for 4 Npower champ managerial positions over the season and all have been laughed off. I feel I am ready for the next step now but I can't seem to get anywhere!

You have to remember that you are in a team that has low reputation, and on top of that, you are in a low reputation league. Its hard to get out of it. You are going to need luck and a good league/cup run to get somewhere. If Celtic sack their manager (or any other big team) go there. I know it is still in the SPL, but at least you would have moved clubs, more reputation etc.

Celtic won the league some 6 years in a row (well, all the seasons till now) in my game, so yes, they seem unbeatable.

Very good point! I hadn't even considered the reputation of the club! Doh! There is so much to this game it is pretty amazing.

I did get lucky eventually, but it took my resignation before a 1st division Npower club took me on. I just wish I had resigned earlier, then I could have jumped into a 1st division club worth £22million instead of £6million!

I'm now managing Bournemouth - and they were recently relegated so although I have an uphill battle against me I do have a nice selection of multi-million pound players at my disposal. I've just go to get the team morale up otherwise i'll soon lose them I'm sure! I've also got twice the budget I'm used to, so although it's tiny compared to most of the bigger clubs its a nice position for me to be in.

Out of interest, as the manager of Kilmarnock I was on a good wage @ £3,600 per week. Now I'm with Bournemouth (which is worth slightly more than Kilmarnock) I've only been able to get £1,700 per week. Is this due to the reputation etc once again? ie I've come from a low rep team to a better one?

Good luck!

I'm not too experienced with wages. I think its a combination of the club's finances, how good you are and if they believe in you.

Don't bother though, wages mean nothing at all. It just means that a team who wants you have to pay a larger compensation to take you away (maybe this was one of the factors that made other teams not come in for you). it happened to me once.

Right, so I've remember where my screenshots are saved to.

This is the guy whom I signed, everything agreed and confirmed... and then absolutely no sign of the arranged transfer on FM. Can't buy him either as I'm told he's already accepted a contract with another club... which he hasn't.

Annoying too as he was only going to cost me £2m, and he's at 4 stars already, going up to 4.5 stars in PA. Plus I'm now at the top end of the "star rating stage" whereby I have wonderkids on 2.5 stars and £15m players in 3 stars.

This is the 17 year old whom I dropped £14.5m on... and he's not even that good, although I've got a sneaky suspicion that he's going to be unbelievable in a few years.

Transfer window opens. Busy day. All youth players too!

Yes you're right. After failing to get jobs with 5 npower champ teams I decided to set my sights a little lower, and picked two struggling League 1 teams. Both said they wanted me but couldn't afford the compensation. This is when I decided to try my luck and resign. At that point the second team approached me. So wages definitely impact somewhere along the lines.

They do impact the compensation the team has to pay (as you said) but that is pretty much it :P I always set the lowest wage possible.

@toshj

That guy looks immense for 2M. Hopefully he joins you now! Also, the 15M guy is a big risk :P You better he turns out good, or I feel you are in deep crap.

So good for £2m, but the bug looks like he'll never be able to move to a new club... not fun. I've got good cover at CB, but a player like that will always add depth to your team.

The £15m guy is a massive bet, but the last player to come out of Ajax with similar attributes at that age was this guy - and he turned out pretty well!

This is the guy I've been waiting two seasons to sign, as he kept on getting refused a work permit. He tore his hamstring in his final game for his former club (10 days ago) so I'm sure his attributes might drop slightly whilst he recovers, but I reckon his mental attributes are going to rocket over the next few years. He could do with a bit more speed though.

Ask about it on the SI forums. Tbh, if I had that bug, I would use some editor to transfer him to me, as its not fair I paid the money but didn't get the player.

I didn't know you can edit the game whilst it's being played? Might go down that route to be honest if I can't get it sorted. Do you know how to do this?

I've got a load of knackered players on my team now and need to rest them. What do you rest these guys for? Do you use the training/rest menu or do you simply lower their training and stop them playing a match or two ?

I tend to rotate heavily, but I'm happy to rest individuals for a day or 2, or even send a couple away for a week if necessary.

My Crewe team, media prediction of finishing 24th in the Championship, have just dumped a full-strength Man City out of the FA cup 4-3 to reach the semi-finals, having already dumped Man Und out of it 2-0. We're also on target for automatic promotion to the Premiership.

It's not as though I've made huge changes either - 5 of the starting 11 where part of the team tipped for relegation to League Two when I started this.

It's amazing what a vein of confidence and a run of good games can do. Such a great game when you're enjoying it like this - especially when you've experienced the real lows, like the run of eight games without a win and plunging towards the abyss as I was last season.

It doesn't tend to reap rewards until 2/3 into the season, when the AI teams are full of weary, tired souls, while your players turn up to matches relatively fresh (if not at 100% condition - condition and fatigue are different - fatigue is what requires rest and comes from playing games constantly). It's a been a complaint about the AI for a while now that they don't manage (rotate) the squad sufficiently.

Even at smaller clubs I'll try to have two players for each position, with the 2nd option being an up-and-comer if at all possible. If I can't have 22 players in my first team squad, then I'll have flexible players, capable of playing in a few positions. I don't rotate the team every game though - changing a few players here and there where needed according to their condition, and looking ahead to matches where you feel you'll need your 'best 11'.
