*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S4 Thread ***

If it looks like the S3 i do not want, yeah it will be the most powerful smart phone ever but look like a pebble...

What would i rather have? ugly super powerful smartphone or attractive powerful smartphone. If the Xperia Z is more powerful then the S3 then i'm pretty sure i'm sold on it, I've got to a point where i don't need an 8 core CPU, browsing the web and playing games doesn't need this yet.

I think you've missed the point of the CPU. Four cores are dedicated to less-intensive apps, while the other four are at a higher clock speed and are physically bigger, there for the more intensive apps. This is to save power, and improve multitasking, not just for pure processing power.

Yeah I couldn't care less about the cpu/gpu as we have got more than enough power, even the Galaxy nexus and galaxy s2 perform very well still, there is nothing that they can't do which the current phones can granted the gs 3, one s, xl and nexus 4 etc. Do feel more snappier and load somethings quicker. Plus having more than 2 cores I. E. S4 krait, let alone any more is kind of pointless really until Samsung etc. optimise android to take full advantage of having those extra cores, many articles about multi-core cpu's and android stating that software optimisation needs to be better as they have put it, just adding more cores for the sake of it.

Of course if all this new cpu/gpu makes a substantial difference to battery life then I'll be interested.

Multi tasking is more than good enough with 2gb ram.

For me it is going to come down to the following:

- screen, preferably samoled, which will limit me to the Samsung phone and htc's next mid range model probably but I could live with a lcd based screen as long as viewing angles are iphone 5 and one x etc. Good and colours are a bit vibrant/saturated
- camera quality especially in low lit areas
- designn and build, if Samsung go with the same style then it is an instant no no again, unfortunately I can't see them moving away from it :(
- software skin, need to see more of sony's skin, but I have never liked it before. Don't like touchwiz at all, features etc. Are great though but if everything else is good then I'll just flash a stock based rom and custom theme and I love sense, however, don't like the white backgrounds! Their next version better be good otherwise it is an instant no no since it is a pita to root and flash custom roms on their mobiles
- battery life, after being spoilt by the one s battery life and seeing the note ii battery life, I don't want anything less than them! :p

And if I am not impressed by any phone or they don't seem like a worthy upgrade overall then I'll wait for the nexus 5 or whatever else :p

I imagine everything else like the nled, audio etc. Will be improved.

Edit;

And most importantly it must be no bigger than the current phones I. E. Gs 3 and one x

No sorry I know how LITTLE big works, I meant I'm not going to hold out for it if it's marginally better then the S4 pro which being honest it will be.

I'd rather have a better designed phone then a more powerful ugly thing... That's what I was getting at.

My sgs3 has never struggled so I'd be more then happy with the S4 Pro.

This will be pretty damn good. i cant wait. imagine this phone and installing ubuntu on it. Dock it connected to a moniter and whammy! You'd have a half decent pc on your phone!

I have to say I'm excited about this phone, my current and last phones were blackberry's, and before that I had a Samsung Omnia i900. Never had anything android before :)

Looking forward to seeing this, im off to MWC in Barcelona in feb.

you've more chance of seeing elvis at MWC, there's no way they would backtrack from a massive single product launch event like they had for the S3 away from the noise of other mfrs launches.

Their launch procedure for their hero handset is now significantly more apple than it is htc.

I'd be happy to bet you one hundred internet pounds on that.

I would use it instead of the stock way personally, especially when browsing, playing games etc. but hopefully it will be implemented as an option for KLP. As much as I love the on screen buttons, they are too big imo.

And as Matt said, not a chance that Samsung are going to have the GS 4 shown at MWC. They are very much like apple now in their marketing strategy, which is largely why the GS 3 has been so successful, so they will have their crappier presentation later on around May :p :o

+1 to the above Nexus. Samsung's marketing strategy has become like Apple's now. No wonder they're shifting some serious units around the world.

I just hope its as mental as the last one, I want badly rehearsed and obviously forced ad lib conversations, swearing and MAGICIANS!

Hmmm... contract due at the end of March, but coming from a SGS2 I can't help but feel a 5" screen is too big :(

This has to be bogus - they spent ages developing the Note brand as the bigger phone with a stylus, why the hell would they blow their S flagship to the same size? They'd basically have 2 products in direct competition with each other, I don't think they're that stupid!
