*** The Official Google Nexus 7 Thread ***

Thanks again for the confirmation... you sir, are a star! :)

As you say, it does indeed work a treat, and even prompted me to install the downloaded file... simples! :D

My Nexus 7 has a habit of turning fully off when not used for a certain period of time. Its then really annoying to have to wait for it to boot through the google logo etc. instead of it coming straight on.

Does anyone else experience this? Is there a setting I may have missed?

I now have my Nexus 7 32GB. And now wondering what to do with the 16GB. I have since wiped it and put it back to stock, unroot and locked status.

Question is, should I sell it? And if I decide not to, what can I use it for? I don't have a car or drive, so a dash is out of the question.

But I was thinking of say, building an HTPC and somehow finding a way of integrating the 16GB model as both an LCD and controller to work within it.

Anyone had any interesting uses for their devices? Ideas (within reason lol) are welcome. Thanks :)

That is what I am working on :)
Easiest option (I've looked into it) appears to be either a remote desktop app with the screen mirroring on tv/nexus 7 or something like xmbc/plex which takes over 'htpc' duties with the corresponding android app.

Yeah, that's what I was looking at as well. Couple it with say XBMC and Splashtop remote, it could be something awesome. May even replace my huge main PC which is housed in an Antec 902 case at present. Guess it will be something to go for. But more of a long term project than some quick thing. :)

Just got one of these, the deal was too good to pass up. What a lovely thing it is! I've only had a quick play on it it but can safely say it already feels like the ideal size for a tablet.

Have you all updated to 4.2.1?

Mine is currently running 4.1.2 and i have heard of a number of issues with the latest update such as poor battery life, taking a long time to charge, random reboots, network dropouts, bluetooth problems.

Is anybody here experiencing problems post update??

Thanks

My new 32GB already had 4.2.1 on it. So far it's been sweet (touch wood). My 16GB did experience some lag after going to 4.2.1 but it was down to Google Currents. A lot of people have said disabling the background sync on that helped. Maybe give that a try when you decide to update.

Launcher used is 'Nova Prime'. Icons are Widgets made with 'UCCW' and 'Simple Text'.
Using 'Tasker' for various actions when power is turned on or off.
'Ultimate Rotation Control' to force permanent landscape.

My fingers were freezing as its about -5° lol, so some button pressed didn't work first time. Work in the end tho. :-)

Hey guys, I've bought one of these for my wife and I'm currently trying to get Iplayer sorted on it. I have the iplayer and Media Player apps installed but whenever I select a program to watch I just get a pink spinning circle and nothing happens. Any idea how to resolve this? Why doesnt it just work! :)

Not had that before but maybe try switching the tablet off and on again?
Otherwise go to the Applications and choose the App and clear the cache?

I've sorted the Iplayer issue thanks, now onto the next one.

I have some picaca web albums that I want to make viewable on the device. They are owned by the google account that is set up on the device, but they are not viewable in the Gallery app. There does not appear to be a 'sync to Picasa' option or similar. Has anyone been able to get this working on a Nexus 7 please?

Settings -> Google -> press the account you want then there's a sync picasa option.
does iplayer allow downloads/off-line content like IOS version now ?

No not yet.

That option doesnt exist on my version of Android I think (4.2), its not there in the device anyway.

I did resolve this by downloading a 3rd party picasa app which prompted me to allow some access to the web albums, they then all magically appeared in the gallery app. Deleted the 3rd party app and it still works. A bit convoluted but got there in the end!
