This is the problem with this forum. Far too many people living in the past. Happens all the time. A new game is announced. Go to the thread and find the usual moaning about how things used to be better.
If the current gaming landscape is so terrible perhaps it is time to sell the pc, use a tablet and find a new hobby.
No one is living in the past, just you would expect that after BF2 the only way would be up!
BF3 could be a great game, just it is lacking in the basics that BF2 had to make it a great.
The commander for a start, a great commander in BF2 could be the difference in games. Providing artillery, ammo and vehicle drops, UAV. (Granted there could be some utterly terrible ones as well, but you could vote them out)
Many people complain about how games can turn into landslide victories for a certain team. I think this issue arises with the squad spawning system, in BF2 you could only spawn on squad leaders. Which meant the general push of infantry could be repelled with some breathing time allowed for the defenders of a particular point.
In BF3 the constant zerg of infantry can get overpowering and often turns matches into whoever runs out of ammo the fastest. And with no way points on the map for squads to group up at, people just generally run to their death.
I know you can only spawn on SL's in Hardcore mode, but why should this be the case? A game-mode in which everyone loves to play the sniper due to OHK's
Mod-tools would have been great to add more life to the game, people still happily play Forgotten Hope 2 and Project Reality. Those would have been great to see on the Frostbite 2 engine.
I've followed every PC Battlefield game, from 1942 and the mods (DC) - Vietnam - BF2 and 2142.
I just feel BF3 has been a bit of a let-down and don't see BF4 being any different to what BF3 is now.
