BC2 was loads of fun. BF3 is loads of fun. Hated BF2 worse battlefield game i've played.
Bring on BF4 i say and BC3.
The wait for BF3 was far too long, i'm glad they're speeding things up.

A couple of points for me:
(NB there no doubt will be some BF2/2142 nostalgia/rose tinted remarks).
1. I would like to see the return of BF2/2142 style higherarchy (i.e. Commander and SL, where the SL role actually had a purpose). Even basic things like giving squad objectives is tedious in BF3, in BF2 you knew exactly what the squads current objective was, and could tell if you where attacking/defending without even having to look at the flag it's self by use of colors etc. The SL had to be careful, and there was even a mini squad objective of protecting the SL, for your spawn point, this is gone now in BF3 bar hardcore mode. Basically put that stuff back the way it was.
2. A proper implementation of Commo Rose, with text appearing on screen (perhaps not as much as BF2, and without the capacity to spawn the hell out of it, but the commo rose as it is in BF3 is a waste of time). The sound is excellent in BF3 so the audio you do get is often drowned out so text I think is needed.
3. Allow us to remove (or at least tone down) some of the OTT effects (glare, bloom, colour etc). I understand this could give advantage to other players who remove this but you can manipulate the graphics settings in BF3 as well to give you an advantage (low graphics apart from mesh etc).
4. Do something about reviving. BF2 was a bit daft with the insta rambo revive. There of course is the issue of the medic trains too in BF3, but the speed you get up and that whole rooted to the spot thing for a second when you get to your feet is appalling. There only punishing the person being revived with that, there is zero reason for the guy doing the revive to hold back unless he's on TS with you shouting obscenities at you
5. If you are going to give us 64 player maps then please design them, for 64 players and not waste half the space (I am looking at you Caspian Border).
6. More gun customization. I hesitate to ask for more guns because there are plenty (more are obviously welcome) because everyone gravitates to a half dozen super weapons. I understand this happens in every FPS, so if they cant resolve, say the M16A3 being the God gun (despite trying numerous times) then at least give me more options to alter mine vs the other guys (sights, cammos etc).
7. Get rid of this stupid knife take down. God damn thing just doesn't work. Remember those times in BF2 you snuck being enemy lines, there where a couple guys facing away from you. Sprint across and you stabbed them all in 3 seconds? Yeah? ME TOO! It was awesome, and know one knew but them. Now you go into this stupid animation, that for me lost its novelty during the beta (I think they changed it from the alpha) and you will no doubt be seen either because it takes too long or you have got someone's attention. Or you wont be able to knife the second guy because it sticks and then the other guy bitch slaps you for your cheek.
8. Go back to BF2 flight mechanics. Particularly for helicopters. The auto hover ruins it for me, they just don't feel as good as they did in BF2 where the aircraft would do pretty much exactly what you wanted to do, when you wanted to do it.
9. I would rather they designed conquest maps for conquest and rush maps for rush. The choke points that are used to keep rush exciting make conquest frustrating.
10. Hit detection/rubber banding. Just fix it, that is all.
No particular order. That is some of the things I feel need addressed.
