Reviews are good and I like the traditional look over chunky head tubes and aero frames. This frame, DA 9000 groupset and my DA 9000 C24 wheelset. What do we think?

I recall you saying a while ago that you preferred the SRAM on your Ti bike to ultegra, so why the change back to shimano?

Also, you have a Ti bike.... why could you possibly want anything else?

I do prefer the double tap, to Shimano but I prefer the look of the new DA to Red so it's mainly aesthetic that and I already have DA wheels ready.

The Ti would be relegated to the commuter and the bike I ride the most often so I'll get more use and pleasure out of it than having it as the 'for best' :)

Finally ordered another pair of shrts

as the ones i use where from my MTB days

so ordered these :

I found out the other day that I've got £36 or so overpaid on one of my credit cards that has just been rolling along for months now...

Quite tempted to buy a pair of these for the summer. At the moment I've only got two pairs of cheap lycra shorts, some bib longs and a pair of very warm, windproof longs, so I could do with some decent bib shorts.

I've had a pair for about 6 months now - the ones with the white trim. Decent shorts, pretty comfy and the pad is good quality and does me fine for rides up to 50 miles. Over that and i find it's not as comfortable as the dhb roubaix ones i have, though they can be a bit warm in the summer.

I dont think theres much padding on those (if any)

my bum is getting uncomftable now, i think the shots that i have have no padding where i need it

These ones I picked up the other week do the job well I reckon. They're the ones I wore last time we were out with the shortish legs.

It's a shame you're not of a similar size to me as considering how often I ride in proper gear (I commute in MTB shorts) I've effectively got a spare I could get rid of.

I'm undecided about tomorrow. I'll run it by the Mrs and see if she's up for babysitting for the 3hrs or so we'd be out. If she is then I'll be there.

I love that R5 more than my left testicle. They were banging them out for £1750 at the end of last year and I was so tempted. Would have cost me both testicles unfortunately.

Couple of guys I know got them and they are lovely.

Ooh, should probably let you know I can't make it out tomorrow! We've got my sister's wedding rehearsal so no dice!

Thanks, didn't think I was going to get a response. I just missed that sale and all were left were 58's got quite excited when I saw this in the email.

Only one thing it's missing is internal cabling  Will mull the decision over the weekend and do some more reading,

Just did my 20 minute test on TrainerRoad and came out at 141 for my FTP figure. Consulting a chart that puts me in an "untrained" category so I'm a little unsure of its accuracy but I guess it's just a benchmark to improve from. :/

Eyeing up a Scott CR1 in the all black colour scheme in Peak Cyclesport today - that really is a great looking bike. Believe you (used to?) have one Asprilla?

Not sure of your watts/kg (that's the key figure) but that doesn't sound right at all - sure the trainer profile and everything is OK?

Btw don't think I mentioned it on here yet but I've gained 0.5w/kg on my FTP since Christmas  been averaging 4-5 workouts a week on the turbo mostly sufferfest videos so probably explains it! At this rate I should be aiming for the Vuelta right??? :D

That would be a storming 2w/kg. I'm sure I had the right trainer profile but I'm going to double check everything. I know Strava isn't even close to accurate but it pegged me as averaging around 200w on steady and importantly windless climbs when I was in the Alps last year, so I'd expect to be within 20% of that sort of figure at least?!

Something definitely wrong I think - Seems strange that it's too low though, usually the other way around. Is it a "beta" profile? I know some of those are a bit dodgy

I've got a Satori and I'm using the new Powertap profile which is supposedly more accurate. I really don't know what's going on. Maybe I'm just rubbish! :p

Dunno if it helps but I was at 2.5w/kg (estimated from my Kurt Kinetic so should be OK) at Christmas when I hadn't done any cycling for a while and even then I would only be at an average of 15-16mph..

Just got caught out in a huge hail storm, blasted me to death for ten minutes, but then I had made it through to the other side. Cars pulled up at the side of the road the visibility was that bad!

Got the insoles out of my shoes to dry, will oven them later to help dry them if needed.

Still managed 40km before tea so it's all good. Couldn't ride in the rain every day mind!
