*** The Official Google Nexus 7 Thread ***

No drawbacks what so ever, I've been using it since late last year. They offer 3MB of data for every advert that you watch, find that you can get up to 100MB per day. They have cracked down on how easy it is to rack up data though, there was a time where you could open multiple tabs and easily reach a large amount of data in a very short space of time. For web browsing only it is a very good way of having effectively a free mobile plan. Open a few adverts every day (whack them on mute of course :D) and you're good to go!

Obviously going on to youtube with it will quickly rape the data that you have worked to earn but for plain web browsing, it's great!

Good show.. DOA

I cant make up my mind between this and the ipad mini! I have loads of good streaming apps on my iphone to stream media from my microline server but im not to up with the android apps and if there are any good streaming ones out there. I really like the price of this compared to the mini but just cant make up me bloody mind

What do you think of the case VEOX Black Ultra Slim Full Body Smart Case Cover for The Google Nexus 7 ? £20 on amazon.

Anyone tried the anti-glare screen protectors? are they any good ?

Looks really nice, but £20 for a case is very expensive! I've just got a cheap gel type one for round the house which was about £2 and a Mofred flip type case for when I'm out which was about £7 when I got it but £13 now! These days I don't have it in any case as it's nicer to hold!

Don't have any screen protection on it - don't think there's any need as it doesn't get into places your phone gets, ie pocket etc.

Does anyone know if any of the downloadable keyboards are safe or not ? I'm fed up with the stock keyboard and the lack of cursors but there seems to be a lot of warnings about 3rd party keyboards using key loggers.

Is this correct or am I being a bit paranoid.

With a lot search around in forums and people will say which keyboards they prefer. As long as you stick with popular choices I'm sure you'll be ok

I like Swiftkey Flow but I also have a love for Smart Keyboard Pro (they haven't updated it in a while)

None. Both may refreshed very soon, the Nexus probably with a similar display size to the iPad mini.

I am going to wait until i hear about a 4g capable android device similar to nexus 7, then try to sell my wifi only one on ebay.

Is there any legal issues with selling a rooted device? I am wondering if due to it being rooted some noob might pay extra for a rooted device. What do you think of the chances?

I just bought a 64gb microsd and a usb to go cable as well for music.

Anyone know how to disable google from syncing everything and disable google account but retain the ability to use google play. ie only allow the google account to work with some google services?

Another thing that realy annoys me is that the location services is either on or off. There should be an application specific location services option. I want to use location services for maps, but not for everything else i do. Typical google.
