*** Official Planetside 2 Thread ***

Logged in earlier this evening and there was an update, then got loads of game crashes including a PC crash! Thought it might of been an OC I was working on earlier so rolled that back and it seemed OK for an hour until it crashed again just roaming the menus. Just launched again and there's yet another update and now it crashes on launch!!

BUGGIEST GAME EVER!!!!

Servers down?

Yes they're fixing a couple of issues with the new rocket launchers, should be back soon.

All servers will come offline on March 23rd at 6:00 AM PT (2:00 PM CET) for a brief update to address a few outstanding issues. Downtime is anticipated to be less than 90 minutes. Players may note the following changes:

•The Phoenix Rocket Launcher should no longer have issues with camera control.
•The Phoenix will no longer create class ability issues.
•The Lancer Rocket Launcher has been adjusted: ◦Iron Sight Accuracy has been increased from 0.5 to 0.3
◦Hip fire accuracy has been increased to 0.5
◦Particle effects and cosmetic adjustments have been made.

I splashed out on some new equipment on Friday.

Finally bought the AV Turret for my Engineer, the TMG-50 for my Heavy with 4x Scope and Forward Grip. AAA Walker for my Prowler and finally the new Striker Launcher.

I tested the TMG-50 and Carl 9 in VR for a few days and the TMG-50 TTK is so much better then the Carl, it's miles better, can hit things at last.

But in the real world, am pretty sure the TMG-50 doesn't work like it does in VR, but am still very happy with the upgrade.

I was originally going to go with the Ranger turret for my Prowler since it's flak and will scare most pliots away, but decided to go with the Walker since it kills ESF's the fastest, it's DPS is high and it eats infantry up in seconds, even does really good damage against Max suits and to top it off it does damage against vehicles. Hoping it will keep pesky ESF's off my back now.

The new Striker Launcher is so much fun, it's kills ESF's in two reloads and tears up vehicles pretty well. We finally got a Launcher that can kill a Sundy/vehicle without running out of Ammo!

Also getting decent FPS in games now.

Out of the three launchers released, am happy with it but would had been over the moon if it had a dumb-fire mode.

Not impressed with the Phoenix at all personally, but then I don't play HA much so no loss for me I guess. Striker does look very good, Lancer looks like it could do with some improvement.

Bought the Claw finally (NC Pump action shotgun) so loving that atm.

Re the difference between VR and real game - I notice some guns seems to have higher level of attachments there than in the actual game, e.g. an adv laser sight when you can only actually get the first level.

Which outfit/server are you again btw IronW?

Millier - Battle Marines of Chaos (BMC) ;)

Wouldn't mind transfering my account so I can join the TE.

Not sure if it is something they have done or the physx. Was crashing within a minute of being in the game today, so deleted user options file, and then it ran flawless.

Still saving for another weapons, may try the Phoenix.

Honestly I wouldn't bother, it's just a gimmick item at the moment that needs changes if it's to fulfil it's potential use. It won't really add anything to your arsenal that will be utterly world changing. People seem to mostly use it for sniping infantry, which is personally not what I use a rocket launcher for... it's also about as maneuverable as an ocean liner and has a tiny range after which the missile just despawns. Whilst I did buy it, more in the hope of it being buffed than anything, I think I'd only really bother with the Striker if you happen to have a TR character, the other two are junk imo.

Why didn't you try it in VR?

I did try it in VR and it seemed ok, but when playing against actual moving targets that shoot back thanks to the huge ****ing beam of light pointing to where you fired from the weapon is a pile of ****. I can't believe full charge up close isn't even as powerful as a standard S1.

That's the problem with the VR area. They need to make the targets move.

I think I've found my calling as an Engineer (ironically in real life too). The weapons suit me and I like repairing stuff. It seems to be the best choice for racking up XP too, continually gaining from ammo drops long after dropping them is very satisfying. :)

Oh, and the game seems to be running well after last night little update. Aside from that though it still runs like a bag of spanners in big fights. I'm still getting drops to <30fps regularly with my i7@5ghz, so all those trolls on the PS2 forums that go around ****ging of AMD CPUs need to STFU and stop lying about the magical fps they're getting. I'm getting maybe 5fps more in those big fights than I was with the FX-8350. The game is poorly multi-threaded. The end. Funnily enough SOE are advertising for a C++ coder with good threading skills for the PS2 project. Better late than never!! :p

Well you've pretty much answered your own question.

If you're looking for a fix for that, I'm afraid you won't find one.
