***The Official HTC One Thread***

IMHO, that is a rubbish article :p :o

He has taken most phones that look absolutely crap out of hundreds of good looking android phones i.e. htc desire, nexus one (for the time), GS 2 (imo is good looking except the back), nexus 4/galaxy nexus, HTC one S, X/XL etc.

So hardly taken 5 years.

Oh and LOL at "look at how shiny/reflective this device is" (regarding the one X+), of course it will be when you have bright light shining on it by a window or whatever it is, so a huge reflection will happen, even the one would look the same in that situation.......

Sharpness has very little to do with image quality, and resolution has little to do with sharpness. Resolution (pixel count) has nothing to do with picture quality. Color and tone are far more important technically. Even Consumer Reports in their November 2002 issue noted some lower resolution digital cameras made better images than some higher resolution ones. That was a long time ago!

Maybe so but who else has covered the design aspect of Android phones before? Although they may of missed out some phones at least they've attempted to cover something that hasn't been bothered to be reported in the past.

Hence interesting. :p

True, but he could have done a much better job and its not like the above phones I mentioned are ones that we have never heard of before :p Also he has taken mainly the slide out keyboards phones at the start, which have always looked rubbish until the desire z.

Yes what's with the slide out phones?! Feasting my eyes on the Motorola Milestone brought back hideous memories..**sends shivers**

The Desire Z was a decent phone but the hinge mechanism was extremely weak and produced a wobble when closed.

I don't think anyone was disputing that though, rather the photos we were seeing were suggesting the One wasn't stepping up the quality despite its claimed trade off of quality vs quantity.

Personally I'd still like a few more pixels but if they have fixed the perceived image quality issues then I think I might be able to live with smaller pictures.

Can't wait to get an HTC One in Black, has anyone got any decent pics of the black model? Is it brushed alum? Is it a fingerprint magnet? Sorry if these questions have been asked before.

just plain matte black :) it is a finger print magnet from the pics i've seen.. but i want it too :) silver is just boring.

Preordered the black as well, can't wait for it to arrive this week.

Hoping for there to be a root method soon where you don't need to unlock the bootloader, apparently unlocking it wipes some of the stock apps, which could stop OTA updates...

On the other hand, the HTC flip case arrived, but I must say the quality doesn't seem as great as the pictures... may get a bumper case instead later...

Those of you who have pre ordered is that handset only or have you gone with a new contract? If handset only then where have you been getting it from - I'm looking at the Three phone only price as a pretty good one ...

I think for the performance and sheer beauty of the thing I can put up with a few finger prints, a good microfiber cloth isn't too expensive after all lol

Shame it isn't brushed aluminium though...

Handset only, so 1) I don't get network bloatware and updates will be directly from HTC, and 2) I'm moving to GiffGaff once contract ends, much better data plans :p.

I've been with GiffGaff for a good while now, brilliant plans! If you need a SIM let me know and I can get you one sent out.

Some phone porn! Roll on May when I can buy one lol

Ok...... had my One since this afternoon. Impressed doesn't describe it! You've all seen the reviews, the users opinions etc. It's one impressive bit of kit! Fast? SERIOUSLY SO! I know Sense is a personal choice, but wow, this is actually really good! I've added FB and Twitter to the feed so far, and I can virtually never open the actual app. Just click an update, and the app opens, but in the right place. So, the actual tweet, ready for me to reply, retweet etc (and it uses the actual app too, not a Sense version).

So, I played with the TV App. It's pretty good! Set up my remotes etc. Range seems very good too!

Then I opened Youtube. Now, this is a new thing to me.... but I started playing a video. Noticed a new button on the screen, so pressed it. My TV then started playing said video instead of my phone! (LG Smart TV). I was in awe!
