***The Official HTC One Thread***

I think I'd get black as well, though I do like the silver.

Samsung are just so far away in the aesthetics department it's actually unreal. :( :p

Oh and the Notification LED isn't as bad as you think! They seem to have worked magic with it, because although it is behind the speaker grille, you can see it from quite exteme angles.

It also doesn't emit light into any other speaker grille holes... which I WAS expecting it to do.

My fav piece from that article...

:D

Yeah, you can store way more detail in a 3MP image than the current batch of 8-13MP smartphone cameras. Clicky.

haha indeed! :D Must have been written quite a while ago!

Very nice photos there and once again it just goes to further backup everything regarding MP and detail captured etc.

HTC really have nailed the one "overall", nothing but praise from end users and reviewers, literally the only areas where some people and reviewers are disappointed with is with the camera (which will be improved) and battery life (although the "majority" of end users and reviews are very pleased with it and getting great life from it), just such a shame that the phone won't sell so well :(

I wonder how many people would have still gone for the GS 4 even if the one had a SD slot & removable battery?

Lots! But I am telling you now, this FEELS like it's worth the money. If I had to spent this amount of money on a GS4 and it felt cheap, I WOULD be dissapointed.

Not used the cam much yet, but looking forward to those software updates.

I know you don't like the Sense launcher Nexus, but this is seriously different to previous attempts. It's actually very lightweight. A lot of bloat (widgets) have gone, and they've left FB/Twitter to the proper apps. It's incredibly fast in use, I was expecting the occasional lag that I am used to from older phones, but this just doesn't at all! It's very refreshing in those terms.

Still exploring, but so far very happy!

It wouldn't matter that much overall, the networks and everything would still push the S4 etc.

For people here though I think they'd all go for the HTC.

It's not that I don't like the sense launcher :p I actually like it and even like the current launcher on V4+, always liked the widgets too (although I hate the app drawer for both :p) I just prefer nova for these main reasons:

- stock app drawer UI
- gesture based stuff
- dock shortcuts
- custom grid size
- changing icons
- being able to hide apps
- being able to adjust width/height margins

Regarding my last comment, I was actually talking about here :p GS 4 would still trump the htc one for sales/popularity even if the gs4 was worse in every area compared to it :( :o

Not true IMO because the masses would discover that the One is superior in every single facet and then proceed to purchase it.

It's the same as a lot of iPhone users.... It doesn't matter if it's inferior in every way you'll still get the fanboys buying it and swearing its the best thing going since sliced bread.

Samsung have their followers also but the open minded and people after premium quality and performance will no doubt go for the HTC One

That's my thoughts on the matter anyway lol

I honestly don't think so due to:

- marketing/advertising, not just in terms of the amount of ads on TV etc. but how they are executed, whilst htc have improved vastly, they still aren't as good
- GS 2/GS 3 success
- HTC aren't a known brand like Samsung, even CPW class them in the same league as the likes of ZTE :o
- everyone either has a GS 3 or iphone, I don't see many people with any other phones these days :o
- sales people in phone shops get paid/bonuses to push Samsung/apple devices onto their customers and that is where the majority of people buy their devices from and they don't know what they are really like, they think that they know everything about phones and pick what is best for them, which is far from the truth :(

Plus a lot of review sites seem to favour Samsung devices these days, noticed that with gsmarena lately.....

You could have the very best device but if you don't get/have the above points, then the item that you are trying to sell, won't do well, doesn't just go for phones, but everything else.

Plus iirc, has there not been far more interest/registrations or something on the phone sites as soon as the GS 4 was announced? More than the GS 3 iirc.

:-D more of a reason to buy HTC, be different. I used to have an iPhone and loved it, until someone showed me an HTC Desire HD.... Within a month I was in trading the iPhone in and never looked back. HTC definitely need to do more advertising though as I agree with a lot of what you said.

That has to be the best looking phone to date. If it wasn't for the camera I would have the HTC One in a heart beat. :(

yup, partly why I am still mighty tempted by the oppo 5 :p No one would have one! :D

I loved the desire and it really was the best android phone back then with the nexus one but there was virtually no competition :p until the GS 1, which was a better phone in terms of hardware, but the software, support, design was awful. Then came the desire HD, which I did not like at all and then the sensation, which I didn't like either, the one series were fantastic and true flagship devices worthy of being compared to the galaxy s3, however, they messed up big time with the X and S in regards to making the mid range phone compete with the high end phone and in most areas, beating it.

The camera is very good as long as you use it as most do which is taking pictures of your friends in bars and clubs etc.

If you take close up shots of your mums petunias in direct sunlight all day and need to zoom into every petal to examine the genetic differences of each one, then yeah, maybe this phone isn't for you.

From the sample images floating around it's quite obvious the camera isn't up to much. They should have left the camera hardware alone and gone with tried and tested instead of this.

Sure I have a dslr for my important stuff but its bulky and if I can get something like 50% of the quality of it with a compact phone camera then thats a bonus. The htc camera imo fails to deliver. It's a real shame as the sucky camera is what also lets the n4 down.

The only samsung stuff I have is here because it's good : TV, Blu-Ray, mechanical hard drives and solid state drives. If the phone is good when a proper review is out.... I may add it to my collection.

The battery life does look however, to be amazing on the One.

All the outdoor shots so far look pretty naff compared to the competition. It's not quite as cut and dry as you make it out to be. Also, the other phones aren't exactly worthless in low-ish lighting, so while the One may be an improvement, all the outdoor shots at present are looking poor in comparison.

Perhaps it will get better, perhaps not.

Most of my phone camera shots are taken in good lighting, in fact so are most peoples that I see posted on Facebook.

Can't see it getting any better really.

And anyway, pics of people in dark clubs and pubs will look even worse.
