Baroness Thatcher has died.

Will you stop already? Seriously? Miners got paid higher than average wages in some pits and they probably deserved every penny for being such skilled workers and putting their lives at great risk. Dimple probably said "greedy" with tongue firmly in cheek. Can we please make it stop. Stop stop stop. :( *Cries.

Nope, now you are claiming that poster probably said this tongue in cheek, well I`m sorry but that don't wash at all, in fact there has been plenty of opportunity for this to be clarified, not by you guessing though :-)

Someone's been swallowing the day's coverage quite heavily.

No. Caught 10 minutes of the Channel 4 news, that's it.

I've done this discussion over family dinners (old man was a local politician for 25+ years), the pub, university and countless other places over the years.

The whole irrational Thatcher-hate thing is quite interesting. I find it's most interesting in Scotland. :D

On a serious note anyone who says I win on the internet must have the mental age of a lightbulb.

Your image doesn't correlate with the sentiment of your post, you know this right?

I think this means I win :-), but thanks for having the common sense to not stick with huge sweeping generalisations, which we ALL know are typically incorrect.

Read it again. It means no such thing.

He simply added that it was either family or a friend connection.

I am Dimple, he knows my posting style.

You've won the internet - congratulations.

I think he used the word retract incorrectly considering the sentence after it was fully confirming the point he made earlier... replace 'retract' with 'expand.'

Great, so we now need you to give your take on things before we arrive at our conclusions y?, you guys are all over the place, guessing at meanings, extrapolating erroneous guesses from unquantifiable variables......jeez :), anyways I`m off to bed, in conclusion I hope I haven't offended anyone seriously.

This is fair enough. Personal experience often not indicative of reality, extrapolations from isolated incidents tend to be favoured. At last I think I get the point you were trying to make. Doesn't mean that trends, patterns, similarities and commonalities don't coexist with each other as factors across all of reality though, despite our desire for aesthetically pleasing symmetrics.

You need to calm down with your thesaurus, it doesn't make your meaningless posts any more convincing.

how eloquent, and a tad conciliatory, I like the cut of your gib sir! (at this point I am seriously tempted to be mischevious and claim I have won you over etc and bait some people, but I wont ;))

In all seriousness, thanks for being a bit nice there.

LOL , y'know I had this kinda funny feeling you might not explain it, and four people agree with me ;)

It really doesn't need explaining, it explains itself, like I said sleep on it. You've got some kind of superiority complex of always having to be right before you drop it.

I think you're being a bit uppity there. I think it was more likely a reference to the rose being used in the Labour party logo.

It's still a battle over the English identity either which way. It was an era marked by social and national division.

I'm in no way being uppity, just pointing out the hypocrisy inherent in 'British' nationalism.

Evil? That's a bit strong. She's a polarising character for certain. But Evil? I think not.

By all means disagree with her policies but don't insult the person.

But she is, her policies.

Just as Chamberlain was a moron and Bush was a warmonger, it may not be as simple as this, but we live in a society that is quickening faster than the politics to dictate society are either adhered to or even exist.

So frankly it is not without merit if you just cut to the chase and go after the person, whom the policies identify with.

It is an element of humanity in politics you will never rid of.
