iRacing

From the audio setings in game use the drop down menu next to the spotter audio and select the ouput that your headphones are plugged into and the same for voice chat.

This is assuming you have your heaphones plugged into a different output to your speakers.

In my case my headphones are plugged into my soundcard and I have Bose Companion 5 speakers which are USB.

So in game I have the spotter and voice chat set to Realtek HD Audio and all other sounds from Bose USB device.

I think I'll keep out of week 13 races.

Too many cars and too many noobs with more money than skill to throw at content they probably aren't normally licenced to drive.

It takes me roughly 1 minute to be set up for iRacing. My pedals are always in position under my desk, the cables for the pedals and power supply are already tucked behind my monitor, so I just have to clamp the wheel down, move the monitor forward a bit and I'm done...

Don't do week 13 unless you totally disregard your SR. I spent 2 and a half season gaining a decent Irating of around 2300 and a B class rating I had plans to race the Lotus 79 the following season.

2 days of week 13 racing I was nearly demoted to D class and my Irating was destroyed. 1500. Pee'd me off so much It was one of the reasons I didn't play for a good 6 months, but now Im back loving it again. Week 13 will be all about hosted seasons for me.. With mates hoepfully.

Really not worth it, just race safe for 7 days and enjoy not caring about SR and IR.

I've been looking at iracing, and as much as i love the idea of being able to get quality mp races it just wreaks of price gauging. There are plenty of sims out there that are close to or argueably better actual racing simultors (netkar €7 anyone?)

What happens when another developer finally pulls the finger out and releases a similar lasting mp system to rival iracing, monthly sub only with free cars/free tracks? People have sunk hundreds or even thousands into iracing..

Aren't the week 13 races unofficial and therefore have no effect on SR? I've been in two unofficial races so far and been taken out and ended up withdrawing from the race and my SR hasn't changed. I thought that only the Rookie class races continued to be official and therefore count for or against SR.

Not sure think it was the SRF or MX5 I was racing at week 13 and it defo hit me, check my Irating chart big drop last November Ie week 13, went from 2300 down to 1700 range according to the chart.

Same as my SR i was at B class and was using the week to try and get A in one to two days of racing it nailed me, was down to C class 2.* had to stop before I got dropped to D class.

Some of its fun some of it defo effects your rating. Check my charts

I was racing in the 24 Heures Du Fun in the McLaren at Interlagos.

It wasn't fun I can tell you. I got deliberately taken out by the same guy twice in one race. I'd upload the replay but when I try to select it I get an error saying authourization denied.

I did my second ever actual race today (just been doing practices or ghost cars) and experienced the same thing. Was going along a straight and there was a slow guy on the inside. As I got closer he turned straight into my path trying to knock me off. I saw it though, braked and turned to the left and he just went off the track and then quit. On the whole the rest of the 12 people were fine though.

The trick someone mentioned above about starting in the pit as a rookie worked well for me. I started in the pit intentionally and watched as 6 people wiped out on the first corner. I was last so just drove around them! 18 people started and I came 12th - only because 6 people quit after the first corner crash but I was happy to just finish without any major incidents and increased my SR :D So intense trying to keep pace for 20 laps :O

Thanks to Skill and Spills above for the tips. How do you upload replays? Is that via Fraps?

You can save replays from inside the game by pressing the "tools" icon near the replay controls and then save. Then reload them and then use FRAPs.

Dunno if FRAPs works in game, I know MSI Afterburner didn't the last time I tried.

I bought the Impala on my account before and when I logged in I had $12 iRacing credits for buying it? So I just resubbed for 5p :p

Thinking about buying a car/track now since I got a month free but then again I am still rookie..

Based on the cars I've driven so far, the McLaren is by far the easiest to drive. The Skip Barber is very difficult, the Cadillac is totally the wrong car for the rookie class. The Radical is quite good but is hard to drive fast, as is the Williams F1 car. The Riley is nice but it's very easy to spin at low speeds while cornering.

Kind of want to drive an open wheel car but don't think I'm ready for that yet. I might pick up the Mclaren.

Just did my first race after not playing for a while and on a new track so I think I done pretty well and finished 4th :D Got quite a big boost to my safety rating as well.

Is it normal for there to be this much drivers that are higher class in a rookie race?(the rest were rookies)

It's because it's week 13 and its only the Mazda races that count, so higher licenced drivers use them to boost their SR in the hopes of being promoted. You'll notice that most of the drivers have an SR below 3.0 so they can't be promoted.

You got a decent boost to SR because of the relatively high quality of the field.

You need a C class licence to drive the McLaren in official races. I think you can still use the Mazda in D class races so you shouldn't need to buy anymore content to get to C class.
