*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S4 Thread ***

Is it just me or does the option to pre order the phone sim free appear to have disapeared from the Carphone Warehouse's website? The advert is still there on the homepage but when you click it, it only gives you the pay monthly options...

It disappeared yesterday.

My monitor cost £500 and is made from plastic....does that mean it isn't premium?!

You rarely if ever actually touch your monitor though once it's been set up whereas a phone is handled all the time. I think it's a fair comment tbh, Samsung seem to nail the spec every time, the battery is good, the screen is great but one area that could do with a big improvement is the build materials. It's good that many reviewers have highlighted this fact, it might push them in the right direction.

"Unexpected demand"?

Yeah, who would've thought the most anticipated smartphone of the year would be popular? Please.

Why can't any one seem to do a global launch other than Apple*?

Unexpected high demand? Oh really?

*Perhaps not, I thought Apple were known for fairly decent global launches.

well saved ;) - the number of times Apple products haven't shipped to pre-order customers is alarmingly high

The thing with the unexpected demand excuse is that its not just a case of magicing a phone out of the air, Samsung have to manufacture and ship the phones worldwide, trying to balance the demand between the regions and distributers based on numbers they probably came up with months ago.

Yes theres a chance that they artificially restrict stock to drive up demand but equally they have to be gunning after the 'most phones sold on day one' accolade and restricting stock isn't a good way to hit this.

Changes are they looked at the competition and weren't nearly as bullish as they could have been when it came to working out demand, not wanting to be left with a load of stock they made as much as they thought they needed and were blown away when the pre-order numbers came in. What is interesting is who (distributer wise) gets first dips, i'd have though the networks would be high on that list but it would seem not... i wonder how many EE pre-orders will get delivered tomorrow.

Still waiting for my 3 notification, despite pre-ordering before many people here who have had one.

By the way, if you're looking for a case or screen protectors on the rainforest do NOT go through a 3rd party seller called MOFRED. They are selling packs of protectors for 1p plus postage, and as with all offers too good to be true it is - if you look at the date for the item going on sale, it's right after the launch of the S2. In other words, they're cleaning out their old S2 stock under false pretences.

For 3 - are DPD meant to text you?

Thanks for the heads up about the cases/screen protectors.

Someone been given the 3rd of May on another forum. Can you check your order online?

Don't think so as I technically don't have a 3 account yet.
