Looks plasticy bro. :p

I found rooting very easy. You can download a file to flash with Odin, job done I think.

I think it was from this thread -

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39901375

Yep that was easy.

Just downloaded CF-Auto-Root from the link in that thread. You have to boot into download mode (they don't tell you that) Which you do when the device is switched off
Keep the vol down button and the home button pressed whilst switching back on.

Then wait for the pc to recognize the phone and away you go.

Now which stock rom to install

Just ordered Spigen neo case in slate. Got a cheapo case but I really dont like it. Spigen does look the part.

O ordered one yesterday as well. Mine is the Satin Silver. Should hopefully receive it tomorrow.

I have the original Samsung flip case but not really getting on with it. The Spigen is a little pricey but reviews seem good and it looks nice.

I'm having issues with the clock/alarm not working and I cant change the default notification on texts (android.blah.blah has stopped)

Any tips.

have you tried wiping the cache and data for the clock app? that might do it... (in settings, applications, all, clock...)

I'm sure this is just made up for views, but sounds great if its true:

Part of the big day will be to announce a new version of Samsung’s latest flagship, the Galaxy S4. While Samsung’s phone is an incredible piece of hardware, many users find themselves less than pleased with Samsung’s version of Android. To resolve this once and for all, we’ve learned that a pure AOSP (Android Open Source Project) version of the Galaxy S4 is being prepped for launch and will be unveiled during the I/O keynote.

Yeah tried that. I thought it was a placebo effect at first as it worked fine for 2 days. Then I read that some people were having issues. That night it stopped working. "Unfortunately, Clock has stopped" whenever I try to add an alarm.

I get a similar issue when trying to change the default notification
"Unfortunately, the process android.process.media has stopped"

I'm hoping a firmware update will sort it out. or if I can grow a pair and install a new rom myself

Yeah but Kona's Fanta is premium it comes in an ALUMINIUM can!!!!

Plus did you note the premiumness of his real wood table.

I'm sick of my old shabby denim Levi jeans have any firms brought any premium aluminium trousers to market to go with my aluminium trainers, my mate was right the sole is a bit stiff worth it though for all the looks I get, I'm a bit surprised at how easily the small stones on the pavement mark and dent the aluminium:eek::D:o

As much as I like stock android - I want to keeps some Samsung stuff to like brightness slider in notification bar, great task manager, browser with magnifier etc.

Just need to wait for system wide holo theme's like JB Domination, bit like the best of both worlds.

I find all this VERY hard to believe and your sources certainly don't have any concrete reliability to the point where you can say it's happening.

The first one is a guy on youtube talking about what he's read on the second link and the other 2 reference that link too.

This is a million miles away from the core strategy for both Google and Samsung.

If I had to put money on it I'd say this was BS. Not long to wait now though!

Ok about the distortion with regards to music.

I use PowerAmp with Denon ACH260 in ears.

I have found there is distortion with the lows and bass. The overall sound quality is a big improvement over my old Nexus S but the S4 is distorting on the bass and low.

I played about with the EQ settings and got the mid and high spot on, super clear as was the lows. I had to turn the phones volume down and up the pre amp on the app to get a good balance of volume and minimal distortion and this is with the bass turned right down on the app.

The distortion was more noticeable on tracks from Lana Del Ray, Lindsey Stirling and Spectrum by Florence. Laura Marling and London Grammar were spot on where the bass is a lot softer. Mudvayne was all good but then they have enough distortion in their music to hide the phones distortion.

I did try the stock headphones but after 30 seconds I promptly ripped them out they were that poor lol.

I do hope there is an update to sort this as it is going to get annoying.....
