Geforce GTX 780, 770 coming in May

As the discussions continue i'm thinking more and more £500 is where the 780 will land. Maybe £499.95 on launch day to say it was under £500.

That's pushing what it should be, but not so high as to massively limit sales.

Actually, it's pretty much a given that they'll make more sales if it launches at $599.

I bet it's gonna be the case of $550 (£362) without tax in US, and here in the UK is £499-£530 WITH tax. How the hell we get "taxed" 38%-46% on top? I guess that's just how it's gonna be for us people living in the UK...and our beloved UK retailers are still working with the £1:$1.48 exchange rate for their pricing when it is now £1:$1.52, plus the usually price gouging :rolleyes:

There are almost always places where you can purchase the cards at a price close to their VAT adjusted RRP.

TTL has got a timer counting down to a GTX review and it'll end next Thursday at 2ish so seem that at least the nda will be lifted then, no idea wether it'll be a simultaneous launch.

I doubt there will be much before launch. These cards are not meant to give much gain from the current gen but I imagine Nvidia will hike the price given the price of the Titan. They will want as many initial sales as possible.

My guess is the current 6x cards will remain priced as they are and these will fall in the middle of them and the Titan so say around £650 ish for 780GTX ?

That's what I have found too. 23rd 6am PDT = 2pm BST.

Fingers crossed for cards on launch day. Read reviews and order at 2:15 and next day delivery should give me a shiney new 780 to bench over the bank holiday weekend! :cool:

I will be doing something I haven't done in before - I'll be skipping the entire next line-up of cards and go directly for Maxwell next year. GTX 780 and Titan are just simply too pricey, and the performance/price ratio is just plain screwed (in my opinion). GTX 770 and GTX 760Ti are just rebrands and really uninteresting for me.

I agree the GTX 770 and GTX 760Ti are un-interesting.

This is clearly a stop gap release.

However at less than £500 a titan LE / 780 IS interesting.

+1 I cant really justify any outlay for so little gain, roll on next year.

Really, according to an article I read, it's only going to be slightly faster and it's main gain is going to be power efficiency.

Bit annoying how it's looking like out of a whole "family" of cards, we're only going to actually get ONE new card as such.

They may as well call said card a "Titan LE" and just keep the 700 series moniker for 20nm.

From what i read (pinch of salt at the ready):

titan LE (780) specs approximate to a 680 + 50% more stream processors, 50% more memory & 50% wider memory bus.

So more grunt, and addresses the 2 major issues with the 680, namely only 2GB vRAM (i know you can get 4GB cards

) and the "cut down" 256bit memory bus.

It also has a nice looking (and judging by the titan) effective stock cooler.

If 780 is under £500, its pricey but should be a strong performer.

Do I NEED it? NO.

Do i want it? YES! :cool:
