Does GOT have a big budget?

There are literally zero action scenes and more talking which I find entertaining especially Tyrian :D

Unless the books were like this also with hardly any action?

I think it has enough action to keep you in, while the drama/acting is superb normally unless there is action I'll skip a series but I love GOT, almost as much as BSG

GoT has one of the biggest ever budgets for a TV series.

The problem is that location shoots, exotic sets, and custom made costumes eat a lot of that budget. And big action scenes are very expensive indeed unless you want them to look a bit pants.

Buying R.R.Martin doughnuts can't be cheap either.

I think Rome has the largest ever? and the reason they compressed about 3 series into one for the final second season

EDIT: from what I can find out rome had a budget of 100-110 million $ per series and game of thrones budget for season one was 60 million $

Both funding by hbo (bbc co funded rome but only gave 800k per episode)

Yeah I think Rome lost money for HBO hence the quick ending in S2, though maybe that was before DVD sales. GoT must be making a fortune for HBO despite the high cost of making it.

Been loving this series, gutted we have to wait an extra week before the next episode :(

Guess it means it'll last that bit longer though, as there isn't much left to watch :( :(

Rome should have been given another 2-3 series. I would rather have that than GOT.

I wouldn't go that far, but i do wish Rome had a third season so that season 2 didn't seem so compressed. (Notice i didn't say rushed, it actually didn't feel rushed, just a heck of a lot happened in a single season and felt out of pace with the first)

Yeah, just checked, wish I didn't, that scene is painful to watch.

Drops a torch one of the only things that can kill white walkers and tries to kill it with a sword then finds a magical dagger that can kill them in one hit and leaves it on the ground while he runs away... >_<

Sam is one of the biggest cowards on earth, do you really think that he is going to be thinking like someone watching the show? He just came into contact with the most feared supernatural creature in Westeros whose very presence turns your mind and body to quivering jelly (though admittedly he had a head-start there), all he will give a **** about is legging it asap... and so would you or I!

^ Yes but he had the one thing that would work against them, if i was a coward i would make damn sure that i'd keep that thing as close to me as humanly possible!

Fire doesn't kill white walkers, it kills wights

Not me. My name would be synonymous with Arthur Dayne or Aemon the Dragonknight :)
