The fact Hulk is incredibly overrated and really not that good would be the reason why I would think.

19.5m for Navas + 3.5m in clauses is the rumor and all that is needed is the official announcement.

Also the only problem with Isco is wages, Graham Hunter saying we either sort it out or he us going to Real.

2 things.

Firstly, are you really suggesting Navas is better than Hulk?

Secondly, is this going to be like last summer when you make any average signing sound amazing business despite it being glaringly obvious it really isn't? De Jong/Garcia being the best of the bunch.

Shame no one picked up on your pun there. I appreciate it.

Like the City chants a couple of seasons back when he was playing for Porto.

"You're not incredible"
"You're not incredible"
"You're not incredible"

He had a massive sulk about it and Porto put in a complaint to UEFA that the chants were unsporting.

Navas is a very strange signing. A club like Man City should be aiming higher you'd think.
Well as I have said I can't believe that he was our only target and us signing him must mean our other targets just weren't available.

Our squad lacks a player exactly like him so we simply have to bring one in.

It's funny because we actually got fined more from UEFA for that chant than they did for being racist to Balotelli. Lol.

I am not sAying that but I am saying that Hulk isn't that good in my opinion and overrated and I am not saying Navas is an amazing signing, we have overpaid and there are many better wingers out there but what I am saying is that there is a reason behind it and I think it must be because we have been turned down by other players so that's why we are getting Navas.

I'm sure Arsenal fans were thinking the same when they signed Cazorla, IIRC people were dismissing him before he ventured to the Prem, now I'm sure he'd get into any of the top sides.

apart from the fact Santi was often touted as the best Spanish midfielder outside of Real and Barca and isn't renowned for missing mummy's cooking... ;)

Never even heard of the fella when he signed for us but ive been very impressed with him this season...he may not be Fabregas but hes very good and hoping he kicks on next season and becomes even better.

Hulk is much better than Navas though, and will move for money which is the main thing that City has over other clubs.

I wonder what's going on behind the scenes at City now, because they're seemingly not willing to throw cash at big money transfers anymore... Are the Arabs getting bored?

I haven't seen enough of Navas to compare but I just don't rate Hulk.

Besides how much would he cost? 30m-40m? he wasn't cheap and there is no reason for them to sell. Besides we just wouldn't sign him anyway so no point talking about it.

The management behind the scenes is changing which is a factor and also the summer has only just started. Don't rule out any big signings yet and as for your last bit.

LOL

No is the answer :)

Mancini tried for three years to bring in Lavezzi, Sanchez and Hazard and we failed every time. Finally we brought in Sinclair!
So either our management team don't have a clue about football and only know of a limited set of players or every time we go in for one of the best wingers we get rejected so they have just decided going for Navas is our only option.

The only thing you can take from that is, if you don't get players you want, DO NOT just go out and buy any player because they are available, because thats how you end up with players who aren't good enough on huge wages sucking the money out of clubs. IF who you want isn't available, wait and find someone you do want, don't just look on a list of wingers and buy the first one available, its asking for trouble and the worst possible way to run a club.

Navas at his best, comfortable at a club he's at, isn't the best winger around by a LONG shot, he's not terrible, he's not great, and he shouldn't be the first choice for a prem club looking to go for a title. You shouldn't buy players for the short term, just because..... Go find 5 young players who are 16-19 who show potential and buy them, and if in next 3 years they don't progress, get more youngsters on the cheap, and if over that time someone like Ronaldo becomes available, buy someone actually top notch. However I absolutely don't for even a second believe Navas is the "only" winger available.

Eh??? thought we had got rid of that muppet once and for all...if not please Wenger make it your top priority to sell Santos or hell give him away for free please:p

Well at least Denilson and Squillaci, both terrible players have finally been given the boot. Some more clearing out to do though, Diaby, Gervinho, Chamakh, Rosicky and Sagna are a few that need to be shipped out this summer and get some decent replacements in.

The thing that makes me sad is Denilson begged to leave because he thought Arsenal were going nowhere, and worse still, his contract wasn't finally up, he agreed to cancel the final year rather than have to come back to Arsenal. But yay, lets stick with Wenger, a manager so pointless Denilson got frustrated and forced his way out :(

Denilson hasn't shown an ounce of ability in 5+ years, yet still had a contract for next season..... its depressing.

I wouldn't say that at all, both in that Cazorla was touted as a cut price top player from a team in financial trouble and no one was dissmissing him, he's just not as good as Fabregas. Navas is being dismissed as at his best in the best circumstances, he's not actually particularly good and he has well known issues making it a very risky purchase. Cazorla is simply a better player to start with and with no doubts suggesting a very high chance of problems leaving his home.

Either way I'd also not yet call Cazorla good enough to get into any top side, he's 28, playing a position akin to Lampard, but at 28 Lampard was banging in 20-30 goals and assisting 10-15 or more, turning up in every game and making a serious difference against the best teams and in Europe.

Goals and assists are useful but what you do around them is too, and he too frequently disappeared, didn't turn up or went missing for entire games, did very very little in Europe or any cup games, great players rarely go missing so often nor have such a heavy bias in better performances against weak teams.

Sure almost any player SHOULD score and assist more against the bottom 6 than the top 6, but when you can only dominate a midfield against the bottom 6, and go missing against the top 6 its different. Fabregas was very rarely poor in any games, and was most usually just as useful in games against anyone, from Wigan to Barcelona.

It is not always right to wait though because then the summer drags on and we end up buying someone like Sinclair for the sake of it.

I understand he isn't the best winger around but if Txiki believes he will improve the team and is worth it then thats that. He is on paper exactly what we need and what the team needs. He will be on small wages and the transfer fee isn't an issue.
You won't know but we have been hoovering up players for the past two seasons and we have a lot of very talented players in our youth academy.

As for your last bit, nobody knows for a fact what the situation is so there is not much point discussing it really unless you know for a fact the situation of the players we have been looking at.

Biz everyones a bit of a nob to you but you are inviting it on a lot with this Txiki crap, that and your ever changing opinion just sounds like you're believing anything certain people say on some city forum

Why is it crap?
He is the director of football, the job is to make decisions on signing players, selling players and dealing with the footballing side of the business.

I don't see what is wrong with what I said?

Ever changing opinion? on what exactly?
