**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

Does anyone know if this affects the digital family sharing with up to 10 friends? I really hope they haven't removed that as a result of this back tracking.

I bet they will.

You now have to have the disc in to play at all times. Your friend won't be able to play if he doesn't have the disc.

Such a shame. Maybe later in the XB1s life cycle when people are ready for it. There was too much backlash for them to risk trying to force it through.

Physical discs are great for consoles :), while a Steam type system wouldn't be a disaster, I don't think forcing people to adopt that is the correct thing to do, and apparently a lot of other people agreed.

Except this means nothing as you didnt now what the purposed system was, a lot (but by no means all) has come out in multiple interviews from different people, so no it's not the stupid scenario you suggest.

Gone. Kaput. No more.

Oh FFS! That really annoys me, so basically they did a terrible job of explaining things, so people complained, and now we lose what was to be a completely new and awesome way of sharing games with friends.

I'd rather they hadn't made this change. The always online thing didn't bother me, nor did the DRM requirements.

Why is Steam mentioned all the time? I buy my steam games for £5 I dont care about selling them. The Xbone wouldnt sell games for anywhere close to what Steam does.
Because I think that's the ideal MS were aiming for. In controlling the 2nd hand market MS could have ensured that devs and publishers saw more of the profits with each game sale. That in turn would allow games to go on sale now and that for 75% off like they do on Steam. I firmly believe that's what MS were heading towards, perhaps in a couple of years.

Yes, it will be gone as a result.

So tempted to go on a hate fuelled rage here.

Small minded Careful with your word choices please - Davey have screwed it up for people that actually embrace progress.

Might cancel my Xbox one preorder now.

Well, you seem to know everything, Microsoft should have gotten you to do the E3 conference :).

It wasn't just controlling it for no reason, as it was a digital license, you would need access to MS servers to transfer the license, this isn't something you can just do yourself, hence the need for authorised dealers.

Likely too late by then?

The only people that complained are the people who don't want to pay for the games. There's no other reason to be anti-DRM.
