Discovered today that the right crank arm has been hitting the chainstay, no damage luckily, but it has almost gone through the framewrap.
Cannot work out why this is occurring as the crank is fitted correctly; the Atlas crank has always been a pain to install!

Hahaha, sorry! no deal! I ran those on all my old bikes, I just feel comfortable with them.
Whats the deal with the super wide flat bar thing that dh has adopted in my absence :eek:

Are hope m4's still the benchmark for brakes these days or is there a better option
Also tires whats good these days, which ones to avoid?

Flat bars are only the rage on bikes with a high front end ( Iron Horse Sunday they make sense on). Bikes are nice and low these days, so that you can play around with rise bars to get the height just right.

Those bars of your are silly narrow - you might feel comfortable on them... until you try something better and think "WTF have I been thinking all these years"

M4's I personally think are rubbish, but plenty will disagree with me.

Went to check the bike today so I can start riding to work again and the rear caliper is sticking

Caliper service and bleed kit ordered. Going to try do it myself rather than pay a LBS to do it and, no doubt...wait ages.

If you like Hope go for the Tech V4 on that build instead.

I'm a big fan of m4's but plenty of people recommend Shimano these days as you can pick them up cheaply from the German online shops. However the feel isn't at all like Hopes, very on / off and spares are non existent. They're certainly powerful though.

Also managed to put a surface chip in the drive side of my XO cranks, not very happy about this.

The rear mech looks cool, I like the flat part, not a fan of the graphics though but personally I'll be waiting until it's at an X9 price level

If it can be had for around £500 I'm in. My front mech is really winding me up at the minute, takes ages to shift, and is constantly getting jammed with mud.

Help! Newbie bike building questions!

Just putting together a shopping list for my new frame which is a Transition Bandit but I'm confused by the front derailleur standards. According to Transition I need a High Direct Mount.

Is this here the correct fitment?

Transition also mention a 51mm chainline, the spec details on the link above mention a 48.8mm chainline. What's all that mean?

Cow I've got helitape on the faces and the boots on! This is just on the underside of the arm in the middle, will take a picture later before i tape them all up again and hope. Annoyance is I cannot remember striking anything.

With the Race Face boots, every so often check there's not dirt in them. I had some on X.0 cranks and the dry dirt grinds away at the bottom of the crank arm.

Have exactly the issue on my Atlas FR cranks and SS2 frame...

Don;t buy from the UK then - Bike-discount or Rose for all your Shimano needs.
