Losing belly quick

Opinions are like ********* - we all have them. As long as you're not a **** about how you say it, it's perfectly fair. I don't think much of the skinny man/petite males - but then again I never will be that sort of person. Russell Brand has a big mouth, that's about it.

I reckon your the type who thinks too much of himself.

What brought this unfair personality attack? I don't happen to like Russell Brand. Yet you deem my opinion on someone just cause to evaluate my personality when you don't have a clue about me? Rather unfair don't you think?

But in seriousness, its borderline insulting when people like you come along and reject advice from the few decent lifters here and spout utter nonsense only then to defend their position like it has value. We all see 100's of you come and go day after day, they all think they are gods gift to something, usually typing things, and lack the basic character to be humble and take on board good advice. You cant really expect to get any respect amongst people who lift behaving this way, because poeople who lift let their results and their stats do the talking, and as a by product they also dont need to take nonsense and idiocy from anyone. Fact is you go to a powerlifting or strongman meet as a little noob with no mass, you can walk up to the biggest group of guys in the room, with respect and modesty and they will be as nice as pie and very helpful. But you wade in with arrogance and stupidity and they are gonna knock you the hell down. This is a geek forum full of beta and sub beta males in the main. Lots of unfounded ego, self importance and borderline autistic traits. Can you really expect to wander into the most Alpha section full of people that you wouldnt say **** to in real life, spout your nonsense and expect to get a fair hearing? No you shouldnt. You have been given all the advice you need to make some progress and prove yourself. But until you do your just another idiot wasting our time.

Took me about 12 months to drop 25kg, feel like a different person and love running (done 5 half marathons and have a full one in Nov).

Lost my belly along the way but it was one of the last fat bits to go!

Good work fella! Like you I've really taken to running and I used to be so bad at it. This time I persisted and didn't bother with training programmes like the Bupa 5K challenge which I've tried before. I have no doubt they work for some but not for me.

I simply invested in a GPS watch and started running. I have my first race in 2 weeks - the British 10K London run. I'm a mix of nerves and excitement. If you have any tips on what to eat the night before or indeed breakfast I'd welcome them - race starts at 9:30 I think :)

For 10km I would say eat as normal in the lead up, try to drink plenty in the 2 days before. The night before possibly grab a couple of extra mouthfuls of dessert although for a 10km you should be okay.

On race day, aim to have a simple breakfast at about 7am (porridge and a banana works for me) and take on some fluids about 15 minutes before you run (but only 200ml or so). Don't drink too much or you'll be in the last minute toilet queue or have to stop mid-race.

As for the race itself, just treat it like a normal run, since it's your first race you should just focus on enjoying the atmosphere as it'll be a PB race time no matter how slow/fast you go :)

Don't set off too quick or get drawn into racing against someone else, stick to your own timings/plan and don't try anything different. For 10km you shouldn't need to take on fluids unless it's warm or you normally take a drink on your runs.

Have a look in the running thread, it's quite good :) http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17709521

I have heard it's very easy to get caught up in the atmosphere and overexert - I'll try to be good! My running pace isn't great - PB for 10K is 1hr 3mins, and just over 29 mins for a 5K but I will use my watch to pace myself properly. Although I'm a little slow I seriously enjoy it + I am getting quicker (slowly!).

I received my running pack in the post this week which included my number to pin onto my t-shirt (has some chips or something on it to provide race time - neat idea!). That's cranked up the excitement.

Really appreciate the tips on food and I will use them. I'll check in with the members in the running forum.

Thank you :)

I worked out that my average calorie consumption is 2500 calories. I worked it out from the dies thread on here using my BMR = 1692 and the multiplier 1.5-1.6 = Moderately Active (Moderately active daily life & Moderate exercise 3-5 days a week)

I go to the gym about 5 times a week, usually do weights for about an hour then if I feel like I do about half an hour cardio or go for a swim.

If I want to lose weight at the same time as building muscle, should I decrease my calorie consumption?

Try warrior blaze or grenade for weight loss, I don't believe in these products personally but a mate has used both and he lost weight living exactly the same as before he took them.

I've got a small amount of belly fat which is pretty stubborn - going to just keep exercising, dieting until it's gone (nothing else I can do bar liposuction lol).

You can't spot reduce anything - I mean my arms have hardly any fat on them at all, neither does my back or legs (but I've got a bit remaining on my belly) so I'll have to drop to a pretty low BF% to get visible abs due to how my fat is distributed.
