I can see how a Spurs fan wouldn't understand that strengthening your main opposition is a stupid idea.

Would Rooney strengthen Chelsea though? When was the last time that he was genuinely a good player? Based on the last couple of seasons, he's got to be behind Maya, Oscar and Hazard in the pecking order - unless Chelsea want to use him as an out-and-out striker.

Which they will do and he will become a beast again, Mata, Hazard and Oscar playing off Rooney as a main striker is a scary thought.

I can also understand that a Spurs fan wouldn't recognise a good striker :p

Hahahaha. This is comical.

Another free transfer for Arsenal!

He's unknow, but he's international record isnt that bad. (Meh who am I kidding, it's nothing noteworthy either)

Here is him scoring against holland:

It is a bit harsh to say he is unknown, he has played for a few seasons in Germany but hasn't got the best of strike rates. I imagine he is in to replace Chamakah and they will still go for Suarez.

united turned down £30m for rooney? fools. why not use this and the £30m already bid for fabregas to make getting fabregas are far more realistic proposition?

Because we don't need the money from Rooney to make the Fabregas bid more realistic, we already have the money available for Fabregas and others if we need it to be.

Also, because Rooney isn't finished as a footballer and on his day is one of the best players in the world and possibly the best in the Premier League, so selling him to Chelsea and risking him becoming rejuvenated is a particularly risky move.
