Typical Arsenal to get him the day before the window closes. But yes, the later it gets the weaker Arsenal's position is. All depends on how insubordinate Suarez is prepared to be in the next few weeks, given his history I'd say nothing is beyond him. I do think Liverpool were holding out for 50m but Arsenal should go for 45m and cross their fingers

If anybody wants a laugh, The Times editor has gone full retard https://twitter.com/TonyEvansTimes

Hahahaha.

As with most people on twitter, those are his personal views, not his professional views.

If you look at his (and most other journalists) mentions and the constant, uniformed abuse he gets, he is well within his rights to give a bit back.

Possibly, but you should never go to twitter when you're in the public eye and emotional, it's a bad recipe.

What do you think of Suarez? Do you want him to leave? He's caused Liverpool nothing but grief.

He's an football editor of a newspaper, he's hardly a A list celebrity. Knowing of him quite well, I don't think he gives a **** about what people think of him. I've said on here before, Tony Evans the journalist is pretty decent, Tony Evans the Liverpool fan is hysterical.

As for Suarez, unless it benefits us I don't want him to go. Unless we're forced to sell him (which we claim won't be the case) or it gets to a stage where relations between him and the club go beyond the point of no return (which I hope won't happen), it makes no sense to sell him to Arsenal for anything less than an extortionate amount.

As I've said before, if he's still a Liverpool player come 1st September then I have no worries about his commitment on the pitch. That said, it's far from ideal to have your best player wanting to leave and with that in mind, providing the club feel they can bring in players to replace him, I wouldn't be overly bothered about him being sold abroad.

Without being unduly unfair, I don't think Liverpool are close (in time) to overtaking both Spurs and Arsenal, I know losing Suarez may confirm this to Liverpool fans but I think it'll take a few years either way. It's very hard to make that step up to the top 4, Spurs have been trying for ages. Your strategy shouldn't rely on Suarez, you should be able to get some good use out of £45m. I also think that is a good price, considering Falcao was £50m iirc, Suarez isn't at that level yet, he was bought by a silly owner with unlimited money and he doesn't come with the problems that Suarez does. Only this summer would £45m for Suarez not seem high in my opinion.

When you mention an extortionate amount how much is that?

What figure would be the least you would want?

Tottenham have signed the best players this window followed by City. I don't want my smug City friends to rejoice in the fact their team is better.

I'd like Fellaini at Man Utd. Also what Bale money? Spurs haven't sold Bale yet and there's been no confirmation RM have even bid £82 million, last I heard was AVB saying Bale is not for sale. If RM had actually made a £82m bid, Spurs would have accepted that by now.

If they're going to sell Suarez, then bloody well sell him to give them time to get a replacement. If he must go, only sell him abroad though, even if it's £5m less. You just know if he gets sold to Arsenal (or anyone else) he'll score against them.

If Suarez gets sold to Arsenal, you just know he's going to take Arsenal to top 3 and realistically leaving Man Utd, Spurs, Liverpool and even Everton fighting for the 4th spot.

If Suarez gets sold to Arsenal,....

Won't happen. Not before this transfer deadline anyway.

He still has to the serve the rest of his ban, so won't be available to play for a PL team till the end of September. Therefore, LFC could possibly have a 'sulky, striker on their hands till the Jan transfer window. Even thats unlikely with it being a world cup year, and he will want to perform.

Worst comes to worst, we could sell him for inflated money, and he won't be cup tied to any CL team thats interested in the Jan window.

This ban also gives Liverpool time to evaluate how we'll they are performing with the new signings and without Suarez, and could add weight to how they want to play it in January.

Still think Liverpool hold all the cards in this situation.

Will he ****, he didn't take us from a 7th place club to a higher placed club did he? People over estimate the impact he will have. He isn't a good fit for arsenal's style of possession football

Well well well.

OK we may have promised him CL football, we failed there, fair enough, but he has dragged this club through the mud, twice in his time here.

Fact is he isn't the hot property he thought he was because other clubs (apart from AFC) don't want to take on the **** he comes with.

Why do Arsenal assumingly not care? Because they themselves can't attract the cream of the crop either, pure and simple.
