*** iPhone 5S/5C - September 10th ***

I'm still sticking with what I said. My best guess is that the 5C will be £429 just making it free on many contracts. Either that or they will gimp the storage to 8gb and release it at £249 and make the 5S 32/64/128. Who would buy an ipod touch if there was a 16gb iphone 5c for £249?

If, and it's a massive IF they released an iphone 5 with a colourful back cover for £249, then most teenagers would want one and it would be a huge success. I can't see it happening.

Using a 3GS and its getting tired and slow.
A 5s would be my choice but if the 5c has decent enough spec I will probably settle for that.
 
Currently got a black 5 that I have managed to keep in mint condition, but still tempted by this if only for a better camera. Cam is superb for most conditions but some of the indoor shots are way too grainy for the light that's in the room.

If the 5S is a 12MP cam as suggested, surely that would mean a minimum storage option of 32GB?

That's what i'm hoping anyway.
 
The 'champagne' colour will be exclusive to the 5S 128Gb which will depart from the usual $xx9 pricing and come in at exactly $1,000.
 
I've literally just had my 32GB 5 swapped because of another lock button failure. So I'm just keeping it safe so I can get an awesome price for it, might even sell before the event next week.

I vowed that I wouldn't upgrade this year, but I can't break a tradition of getting the latest iPhone. It's been like an annual event for me since 2007 :p

In fact, I'd be willing to put money on it. When a new phone comes out, the old model usually drops £100. And given the 5C will essentially replace the 5 when the 5S comes out, it would make sense

For £100 more may aswell get the 5S ?

I hope the 5C will be £250 :P
 
On the fence really, I think that Apple will definitely do something competitive with the pricing on the 5C. I can just hear Tim Cook pausing for applause when he says "And how much will this cost?"

That said, the 5 cost more to build than sell so they'd be making a profit from switching to plastic. Or they'd be able to use that larger margin to pass on to customers. Really depends on where they expect to generate the venue - the handset, or the app store purchases for the life of the handset.

If you look at the markets they're targeting, it's the mid-low end Android handset market in the East so the price will have to be competitive. It's a big jump for them to offer a budget product, and a risk so I don't think they'll go into it half heartedly.
 
Dont know if its been mentioned in here, but do people think the iphone 5 will drop in price when the new iphones come out??. Really need to replace my mums iphone4 as the home button is a bit flakey, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt.

Most likely the previous gen usually does at the next gen release. However with the introduction of the 5C things may be different this year.

To sell off old stock they might, yes, but as the iPhone 5C is coming out I'm not sure what the situation will be. Either way the 5C should be priced as a suitable replacement (and quite a bit cheaper than the 5S at least).
 
Cheers guys, i guess ill just hang fire and see what the new iphones come out at price wise. Will probably get her a 5c if its about the same sort of spec as the iphone5.
