*** iPhone 5S/5C - September 10th ***

I don't understand how those of you who bring up these Mac vs. Windows and iOS vs. Android debates don't get bored of it?

For every pro of any device or OS, there will always be an equivalent con. No point repeating them constantly. How about the numerous bugs in Android that they haven't fixed after donkey's years? The far more inconsistent quality of apps compared to iOS? The occasionally jittery performance that is still experienced on Android, even on the most powerful hardware out there right now (and here I'm waiting for a response saying that Android is just as "smooth" as iOS)? The ever-increasing size of Android devices that all appear to ignore the usability of the hardware?

Both platforms have their positives and negatives. So much so that there isn't much point debating something which is entirely subjective. You all say it as if Android is the quintessential platform without acknowledging that it, like iOS, is far from perfect.

Look at the Samsung Galaxy Note S3, I don't see what's so innovative or new about it.

It's a big phone with faux-leather back and stylus. Running two applications at once sounds like a very poorly thought-out feature. A lot of the other features (like KNOX) are playing catch-up with Apple.

Am I missing something revolutionary?

You don't even know what the name of the Note 3 is... Its not a Note S3.. that tells me you haven't looked at the tech specs or any videos about it so anything you say about the phone is worth nothing :)

And i lol at any user of an iPhone who runs to me and crys that their "baby" broke

Oh wait, Actually apple keep it up because i will stay in business this way ;)

I also asked if I'd missed anything. What makes it such a great phone?

Tech specs don't really interest me. What can it do that's so amazing?

Bigger screen, higher res, spen just to name a few.

Its a device far superior to many others, yet you see it as nothing better than a iphone?

As I said in my previous post, a bigger display with a higher resolution doesn't make it a better device. It makes it a bigger device. What is "better" is subjective when we're discussing devices that ultimately aren't, well, crap. The iPhone (and any other phone that is under 4.3" or so) is ultimately more pocketable and less cumbersome. This isn't even about technical knowledge or specifications, this is now in the realm of common sense.

It's this immature, silly, simplistic attitude that fuels this whole "bigger numbers are better" trend in various consumer technology markets. Exactly the same as the whole "higher GHz is better".

These kinds of childish "debates" are what make those interested in technology look like utterly sad geeks.

I live overseas and my family back home all have iPhones , so I will probably get a new iphone 5s/c for the FaceTime and all my iTunes junk, I have a Macbook and iPad .as well and I like the way it all integrates through the devices and it does just work very well . Several of my relatives are technophobes and are coping with the IPhone surprisingly well after trying some Android phones .
I have tried android phones and yes they are very good in some aspects but they dont have FaceTime which i use a lot and I do have a large amount of stuff on ITunes.

I thought the S4 was very nice and if it wasnt for the aforementioned issues I would seriously consider getting one as I found it to be very good ( if a bit big)

Running two apps side-by-side is a pretty useless feature at least until Apple introduce it and revolutionise everything. :p

On phones I can't say I really see the appeal but having used it on MS RT tablets, it feels like a generational leap ahead from the Android/Apple single app/single screen tablet design - being able to do things like have your twitter feed tucked to the side of the screen while you browse or watch stuff is very cool.

Apple need to innovate. They just seem to be releasing the same boring stuff.

Look at Samsung's new devices.... then look at Apples.. Come on apple pull your finger out

What, made of plastic and full of features which nobody uses or cares about?

How are those air gestures working out for you? :p

It's a boring argument, which only internet nerds and tech journalists seem to care about. The majority of the consumers out there certainly don't hold the same opinion, else they wouldn't be buying the products.

Regardless, I'd hardly call iPhone, iPad, MacBook Pro with retina, Macbook Air, New Mac Pro's not innovative designs on the outside, or the inside either.

There is a place in the market for both brands.

I can totally see the benefits of having side-by-side apps running, however I only think it would and could work on an iPad (not an iPhone). The resolution of the iPad if held in landscape might (with some re-jigging) allow for two portrait iPhone-sized apps to run. The have the emulator factor done from when the iPad first came out and ran iPhone only content in a little window. Similarly, hold the iPad in portrait mode and you have two landscape areas.

I think it could and would work really well especially with all the new controls coming in from iOS7, however I can't see this being a feature for a while now, which whilst disappointing, I can wait for as it is in no way what so ever a game changer for me (as it is for some people).

A bigger screen is a matter of personal taste. I'm sure there's people out there who enjoy bigger screens. I'd rather have something I can use one-handed. I have an iPad with 4G when I want a bigger screen.

You still haven't told me what it does that other phones can't.

Come on chaps, enough of the Samsung-is-better-than-Apple-nonsense. It's been done to death, it's boring and serves to achieve nothing other than derail the thread.

This, and if it continues then you'll be on holiday until after the 10th September ;)
