I was gunna take the tuesday off work to be a nerd but after Games email, if it wasnt to arrive that would be a waste of a day completely! They seem confident it will get to people on the tuesday but just imagine how many they are sending hmm

Exactly mate nail on the head. The current gen is capable of exactly the same thing it was capable of 7 years ago, nothing has changed. I mean just look how crap GTA4 looked compared to PC. Logically, that gap can only get wider because the consoles have stayed exactly the same and PC hardware has gone through several more generations since.
Hmmmm. Maybe if you have never used a PC in your life. Took me precisely 7 seconds to select optimal settings on GTA 4. Maybe it'll take 5-10 minutes at worst, but I certainly don't care. Remember I'm potentially waiting 6+ monthsHave fun spending the first month optimizing the game.
Yeah it looks good but it's not the best possible. It's like buying a DVD vs BluRay of the same film. The potential resolution increase alone makes the wait worthwhile to me. Not to mention exponentially larger textures, more foliage, better draw distance, more advanced shadows and reflections etc, etc the list is endless.

Conveniently ignoring that the developers are capable of far more than they were at the start of the generation. Compare any early 360 or PS3 games to their later successors; Uncharted 2 and 3 are visually and technically superior in every way to Uncharted. GTA4 was 5 and a half years ago; you're deluded if you think it's going to look and run no better than GTA4 does.
If you're more concerned with shaders and foliage than actual gameplay, than go ahead and wait. Hardly seems worth it to me (assuming you don't have a console in the first place, that is).
What the heck? Why is everyone banging on about graphics over gameplay?

with more powerful gaming systems gameplay has taken a hit because of the concentration on graphics (some games are exceptions though). I'd much more enjoy a better gameplay game and/or longer game over graphics any day. There needs to be a shift in many gamers minds as graphics is only a small part of the puzzle. We (well at least I) play games for the gameplay and not the graphics.
