AMD Radeon R9 290X with Hawaii GPU pictured, has 512-bit 4GB Memory

The 8,000 figure did seem odd.

If AMD have spent 8 million dollars on BF4 tie-ins (as reported) then that is a lot more than 8,000 game keys.

There will be BF4 free with a lot more "normal" editions of the card, expect a fancy box, maybe metal box like some Nvidia cards before, and a BF4 branded sticker on the gpu cooler... face down in your case which you never look at again.... woooo special editions. I personally love knowing the box I keep in the cupboard is shiny and the underside of my card looks very marginally different to other cards, I'd pay loads for that. Dogtags as well, unoriginal, standard with military game special editions.

I'd be pretty shocked if both AMD put anything remotely useful in the special edition(though this is the kind of tat people frequently do buy special editions of games for), I'd also be shocked if there weren't at least 100k copies of the game in the deal. At £20 a pop(and you'd hope they get some pretty good volume pricing :p ) that would make 100k copies £2mil, they've spent anything from $5-8mil it's said. I'd actually expect the game pricing to be way lower and the volume available WAY higher.

Man you've spoiled my fantasy of a 290x being delivered from OCUK wrapped in gold leaf , and when opened it contains a special limited edition faberge egg signed by 8pack himself with a 290x shrouded in a olive drab titanium cooler (pro gamer edition) inside.

Cockend :D

Would it even be legal in the UK to try and sell something without giving the price and details of what you're selling? I can imagine trading standards might have issues with that sort of thing.

If it is already using a Turbo clock of 1000mhz this could explain the performance in some of the leaks but I don't think there will be much oc headroom.

I think thats it then...:) good specs, should be pretty quick.

As for OC head room, i don't see why not, it could be good for 1300Mhz for all we know. :)

The GTX Titan is about 90% bigger than the GTX 680 and still over clocks to similar levels, this is smaller than the Titan.

Titans go to about 1150 to 1200mhz unless you start modding the bios, GTX 670s and 680s can do a lot more than that.

I would be surprised if you see many R9 290Xs reach 1200mhz using a HD 7970 as a benchmark.

modding the BIOS removes Nvidia's voltage locking, its not that they can't do it, its that they are locked, AMD don't tend to lock, if they do, mod the BIOS.
