*** Nexus 5 THE Official Thread ***

Why do people compare phones that are vastly different in price. The iPhone 5S is a £550 phone. That's £240 more after shipping costs.

I'd like to see someone compare the Nexus 5 to a similar priced device.

I don't understand why people complain so much that they don't like a comparison and that it shouldn't have been done. It's like there is a limited amount of comparisons that are allowed and one has been wasted.

I did the Moto G against Nexus 4 and someone moaned one was on 4.3 and the other should have been downgraded tom 4.3... Really? I get one or two of these type of comments on every comparison I do :(

Not saying it shouldn't be done. Just be nice to see something price to price for once.

If someone is looking at spending £300 on a phone they won't be wanting an iPhone 5S because it's £550. Therefore the comparison is completely irrelevant.

Only just noticed the Note 3 is still £100 cheaper than the iPhone 5S. Jesus those things are overpriced.

Having watched a few of your videos now I find them full of great information, clear and concise. Keep doing what you do!

If you could just do me a S4 vs note 3 vs lg g2 vs n5 video i'll be made up ;)

To someone that only has £300 to spend on a smartphone, yes, it is useless. But that's their problem, why are they watching a comparison with a phone they can't afford?

If you have £550 to spend, then it's not irrelevant.

Having said that, if the £300 compares favourably to a £550, that will give them confidence in their purchase. So in fact, totally relevant in my eyes.

Thanks for the comments :) Unfortunately, I don't own a Note 3 or LG G2. The ads don't make that much money :(

That's the other thing these comparisons show :)

ive owned all of these apart from an S4 which ive had use of aswell

Simply put, Note 3 if you want a big screen and an N5 for anything else :D

i would have said G2 for anything else a week ago but 4.4.2 has brought the nexus 5 back on top again!

Just ordered a Nexus 5 and an official QuickCover, can't wait! I'm coming from a Lumia 820 which has just been terrible. I won't be going back to Windows Phone for a while if they don't pull their fingers out, it's by far the worst user experience I've had out of the three big mobile operating systems.

A lot of Nexus 5 users don't get it for the price but for the pure unadulterated Android, at least I do. I would gladly pay £500 if they made sure everything was top notch, like the speaker/camera and the same stacked battery in the G2.

Since the phone also goes to every Google employee it should be the best Android phone out. In a lot of ways it is, it has the best screen and Google has put a lot of effort into with calibrating. I think everything should be done to this high quality, and I would pay a premium for it.

I agree but i doubt Google will ever do a high end android device. Reason being then they would be competing directly with the likes of Samsung and HTC and their high end devices which will bad for business as they are partners...

Such a minefield! Also pondering getting a moto G and waiting for the next phones to be released!

I was set on a nexus 5, but two to three weeks wait for dispatch is awful :(

What didn't you like?

A few different things:
  • Timestamps always showing the wrong times in text conversations
  • Never been able to send an MMS despite having it included in my contract
  • Text messages intermittently sending or not sending
  • Having to wait up to 30 minutes for the phone to tell me a message hasn't been delivered
  • Apps not updating and no specific error message being given as to why
  • Not particularly fond of Internet Explorer
  • Multitasking seems like it was an afterthought

I've been with the same provider for a couple of years and during that time I've had an iPhone 4, a Galaxy S II and a Galaxy Note II and all worked perfectly fine. This is the only phone I've had problems with. In regards to the MMS and SMS problems I've tried updating the carrier settings to no avail, I've tried turning on and off various services, I've tried toggling flight mode and none of these things has ever made any difference whatsoever. The handset didn't cost much and I fancied trying out WP seeing as I'd already tried the other two big ones, don't think I'll be going back to it.
