***The Official LG Nexus 4 Thread***

It won't allow me to do anything. I've run out of time now at home. At work and I can't access a toolkit or use the device on a PC. Have to check it out later.

Using Wugs toolkit but everything I've tried so far will not get the phone out of bootloader.

Grrrrr

Still cannot update this phone to 4.4.2

It tells me there's a system update ready to install. It reboots the phone and it goes in to TWRP recovery to run the install. Then fails but no idea why.

Do I need to unroot? Hope I don't have to flash it back to stock. Fed up of reinstalling all my apps all the time.

Maybe ask on XDA or somewhere like that. The people on there will have a lot more technical know-how than us lot.

I used to use that one, before it was skipsoft, I had a previous install, it updated this morning to skipsoft version and although I made a donation to the original one, it now says I can't use it properly because it's not the paid/donated version. Annoying.

I've acquired a laptop from work now and currently downloading images etc. Hoping I can get it sorted.

I'll use XDA if I need to later and I haven't pulled all my hair out.

All the paid for version gives you is the ability to automatically update various files etc otherwise you have to download them yourself
I paid for it to save me hunting roms etc

That's my point though, the version I had before the update this morning was 2.1.0 or something, I'd paid for that. Now it updated to a new version and it says I need to pay again. Hadn't done that before.

Can you get into fastboot (not recovery) on the phone?

Use this guide but ignore the custom recovery bit. If you can get the phone into fastboot (volume + and - held while holding down power to turn on phone). You should be fine to use fastboot to flash stock recovery, bootloader and rom

http://www.cultofandroid.com/23782/rooting-the-google-nexus-4-the-right-way-how-to/

It only ever boots to the bootloader. However after that nothing I try works. Can't get in to Recovery as it just black screens, can't reboot as it black screens. Just the bootloader screen only works.

I'll have a read of that, cheers.

Ok, I am back in business. Not sure what was different this morning to now, apart from using a different machine to access it.

Stock 4.4.2 rom on it. However now I cannot root it as it says ADB device not found. I have the drivers installed correctly and Wug toolkit won't run Unlock and Root options because of the ADB.

skipsoft will load the right drivers,at least that is what I have found :)
whereas wug I had to manual install drivers and delete some too
