Not at all - but I think it would have looked pretty odd with 2 at the front so I thought I'd go all out

Yeah so now my PC is now uber quiet now, sorted my fans out, got rid of the cables that split two fans into one and plugged them all into the mobo. Unbelievable how I thought the noise was normal before. Noob.

These 540 cases really are fantastic. I would struggle going back to a standard tower case now.

Spent 6 hours :eek:

today modifying the case. Got the ssd cage mounted in the bottom left now, and a EK pump/res in the top right with a qdc fill port. Really enjoy this case, as weird as it sounds. Just waiting on another 240mm rad and my 7990 block to arrive and I will post pics

Long story short...

After faffing around with the case for a good 45 minutes getting everything plugged in, I turn it on to find out that the fans at the front are blowing out when they should have been sucking in!

Needless to say there were a few choice words being blown around! I'm waiting on a replacement fan controller (hopefully) from OcUK as mine blew up when plugging five of the fans into it. To add insult to injury, my H100 is broken too!

Can anyone advise me on the best way to quieten this thing down it really is too loud, all fans are running off the mobo but it will only control one of them, the other two are running at 1300rpm and driving me bonkers I don't get head aches but the high pitched humming this case generates really is annoying :confused:

What mobo is it? You should be able to control all of them with the software that comes with the motherboard.

No idea, I think you linked the one IIRC, I just got rid of it and plugged all the fans into the mobo and control them that way. Nothing seemed to be able to monitor the fans speed with the splitters.

I think you got the 12v ..... my bad sorry fella, with the splitter you will not be able to monitor the fans mate as they are getting all the juice directly from the PSU and not having any PWM control from the motherboard.

So all your fans where running at 100% all the time ouch yeah that ear bleeding stuff.

I personally just don't like the cables for the fans making my case look a mess so that's why I plug them into the PSU.

I might be totally wrong here, but I think that's a 4-pin fan thing? Two cables for power, one for monitoring and one for control?

Its a Gigabyte 970A UD3P

You cant control them via the BIOS as only CPU is PWM, not installed the software, maybe I should have a look

Amazing work Simon! I'm convinced with the carbide 540 now, was sure on the Corsair 750d but this is perfect.

Had a few questions if you wouldnt mind answering.

Are you able to use the second 3.5" hotswap bay?

Also it seems here that you can have the fans internally mounted on the 360 with a 240 rad. What is the thickness of your two rads?

just finished doing my first water cooled rig with the 540.

Love this case, it has bags of room to fit every thing in and cable management is a breeze with the psu being at the back.
