What film did you watch last night?

Rush

It is okay I suppose, the characters are believable, the story is well known so no surprises there, just turn off the brain and enjoy it for 2 hours I guess.

Decent enough but equally forgettable as a movie.

7/10.

I found Rush to be one of the best films of 2013 - was glued to the screen the whole time and I am hardly what you would call a F1 Fan!

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug: 9/10

Loved it!, Quite action packed compared to the last one, and some quite tense moments!!, I know there's some processing on top... but, as I said with Star Trek, where did Benedict get that voice from!! It sends chills up and down my spine!!

Plus did anyone else notice who the 'first' person we see in the whole film was!?!?! ;)

Peter Jackson can be seen walking out of a Tavern in Bree eating what looked like an Apple!

The Butler.

Great performance from Forest and excellent supporting cast. Never knew Oprah could act so well. Moving at times and a strong portrayal of black history in America.

Couldn't agree more, thought the acting was absolutely brilliant, and the fact its based on a true story make the tale even more epic.

Last night I had the pleasure of watching The desolation of Smaug.

9/10

I thought it was brilliant, much better than part one, only a handful of things annoyed me but not enough to detract from being a very good watch.

'3:10 To Yuma' again, but on blu ray this time :p I find it pretty enjoyable, although it probably stretches on a bit too much. Christian Bale is pretty good in it imo, but doesn't stay with me too long. 7/10.

Monsters University 3D Maybe not quite as good as the first, but still highly enjoyable family viewing. The visuals are simply stunning, as is the 3D which has amazing depth and none of the flat planes you sometimes get; each object has depth and shape you really feel you can reach out and touch.

8.5/10

Wu Xia (Dragon) 8.5/10

Definitely not your average chop socky. More like a take on the basic theme of 'A History of Violence'.
There may not be enough action in it for some, but the story telling (not massively original, I admit) and cinematography make up for it IMO.

Beautifully shot, very well acted and highly recommended by me :)

It's on US Netflix as 'Dragon'. May be on UK too, I dunno.

I hear there's an original cut with an extra 20mins. May well have to look out for that.

Why did Eminem never become a full time actor?

I think his acting in 8mile is absolutely brilliant, better than most actors out there.

Eminem is a rarity.
Most rapper or singers, go into acting, behaving like a superstar...when in the acting World, they are merely a newcomer.
He may want to project an image of a bad boy, who doesn't give a damn about anyone or anything, but I assure, he takes his craft VERY seriously.

Hobbit Desolation of Smaug

8/10

I havent read the books, but for the love of god someone please die, orks out number them and they all survive but one small injury, and a dragon that laid waist to everyone, yet can't kill a few dwarfs. That is the biggest issue with the film, the rest of it I thought was pretty good

He is on record as saying he absolutely hated every minute of it (filming 8mile rather than acting in its entirety). Acting in feature films doesn't appear to be something he enjoys enough to become a full time actor. (For the moment at least)

Oblivion - 7.5/10

Not normally a fan of Tom Cruise's films but I love Sci-Fi film, and I have to admit I really enjoyed this. A few twists that I wasn't expecting, would probably watch again.

At this point during the book, none of the main characters died, so why would Jackson kill someone off in the film? That would be even more dumb than none of them dying. There would be far more complaints if he killed off a character or two just for the hell of it. I can see where you are coming from though, and it is rather silly of him to make them appear in the film as if they are invulnerable. I did get that feeling with the first film. Tolkien may have done that in the book to some extent, but I'm sure that any close shaves that seemed one too many, have been multiplied in the film/s, which gives the appearance they are invincible.

I won't say anything other than that come the end, not everyone does survive the Battle of the Five Armies. Will be interesting to see what Jackson does there. ;)
