Whoever built the super-beam weapon won the war, not Ender.
All that effort to recruit "genius" children commanders was made redundant. Without the super weapon none of it would have mattered.

That was my issue, there was no sense of magnitude, everything seems compressed and rushed. They covered all the bses but for a little effort and few extra screen minutes they could had added depth and gravitas, shame, it was close, but not there.

You seen only the wood, not the trees ..
The super weapon wouldn't have been able to be put into play if the genius children commanders hadn't used a strategy to get it there...
hence all the war games in the weightless battle sphere.. He thought of and perfected his strategy in there and used it in the end play..

Not to mention, a child thinking he was playing a simulation, was willing to sacrifice everything to achieve the end result, an adult, would not have considered the sacrifice as 'acceptable'.
