What did you do to your bike today?

Nice work agnes.

Garage door is broken at the moment so cannot get anything inside. Plan to uber clean and ACF-50 once it's fixed and I have a dry place to leave the bike for 24 hours after spraying.

Speaking of which, picked up the 690 Duke and am putting miles on it every opportunity I get, stupid good fun :D

No, I'm an all season rider, the Multi is my commuter, my joyrider and all round toy. My only bike. I bought it just over 2 months ago, cleaned it just over 2 months ago until Sunday just gone. In that time I've done almost 2,500 miles.

In all seriousness, this bike has been an absolute cherry. I love it! Perfect in all conditions, motorways in the cold morning, heated grips, mmmmm. Dirty, mud ridden country lanes, stable and fun, yummy. Tight twisty roads, bring it on. Aggressive filtering in tight traffic, have at it son! It works, the 4 riding modes really works.

So no, not a fair weather rider lol. I just do a good job cleaning :P

Not long after picking the bike up, my first weekend out on the bike and it was coated in mud, salt and what have you:

Select the bottle, it's £25. If you have a compressor, make sure you use a 1.5mm mavity fed paint gun (1.4mm is best I'm told, don't have that). You only want a TEENY TINY bit going through so shut it off entirely and make small adjustments until you get the mist. I set my pressure to 80psi. Test on a wall, you want a light coat. Not a plume of the stuff... I learnt the hard way. The cone size should be really small. Saves wasting it.

Quater of a cup lasted me and then some.
 
Im doing my insurance at the minute and finding quotes for my renewal. I forgot to put in a false telephone number on the comparison site and now MCE have called me 3 times today and 6 (!!!) Yesterday. I stopped answering after the first call but they really are just a bunch of money grabbing ****s. (I have had a bad experience with them in the past.... like many).

anyway, rant over.
 
I use an electric paint sprayer to spray ACF50 on my bike and whilst it probably doesn't have the adjustability a compressor and sprayer have, it had enough adjustability to do a decent job. As I didn't have a compressor the £15 I paid for the pain sprayer, on offer from Lidl, was a good option.

When i do it next I might remove the wheels, then bag up the calipers, and go mental on the bike.

Been there, done that :( On the bright side I doubt you'll make the same mistake again.

So how did you stop the discs and pads getting covered?

I just didn't spray directly onto them. After a few heavy braking sessions it was all clear. Just take it easy before hand. The warnings about covering the disks are to stop idiots spraying their disks to keep them from rusting lol.
 
Like an idiot, last night I stripped the m6 torx head bolt on my chain guard. I take it off every week to clean my chain, and for some reason instead of picking up my torx key, I picked up an allen key which stripped it badly - the lights in my garage aren't great... Managed to eventually get it off with some mole grips. Headed down to bike shop and got a replacement bolt. phew.

Cleaned the chain with paraffin for the first time. Seemed to do a good job and left an oily residue which I quite like, seems protective. I usually use Wurth brake and chain cleaner, but it's damn expensive. So I'm still battling the spots of rust but from the looks of things I've got it under control.

Front down pipes were getting spots of rust and general dirt/tar, so slapped some AFC50 on them, they're looking good now.

And covered the black matte areas (engine block, sprocket cover, frame etc) with a bit of WD.

Smelling manly.

7 more calls today, I answered one and lost it with them. 30 mins later..... another call.

Going to block the numbers they have used so far.

MCE are ****s. End of.
 
hehe mce,all insurance companies hound you

ive claimed through mce just fine (bout 10 yrs ago tho),thought they were decent,bennetts are worse imo esp for fees
 
No other company from the comparison site has called me once. I have now had over 20 calls from MCE.

I have also dealt with them in the past and their service was shocking.

Everyone will have a difference experience i know, but judging by 90% of the reviews online I am not the only one.
 
Wore ear plugs for the first time today, I was a little sceptical at what difference it would make.

But it's night and day, much quieter and I think I can hear my engine more clearly at dual carriageway speeds too. Recommend to try some if you haven't already.
 
I wear ear plugs every ride, I find that I can concentrate longer and also the wind noise without them does my head in.
