It was nothing out of the ordinary though, most of our recent performances have been terrible. It'll be a different matter (pun resisted) with RvP and Rooney both playing. They make an absolutely massive difference. Without them we're utterly stuffed.

If we can field those two and Mata, our attack will be ten times better than Valencia/Welbeck/Hernandez. :( That in turn will relieve pressure on the midfield and defence as they wont have to be so far forward, in theory anyway.

Only just cheaper and no he's not better, he's barely played at Chelsea and will take ages to fit in at united, a team which appear to totally not wanna work for their manager and appear utterly useless

If I was RvP or Rooney I'd want out, no champions league for players of their stature, I'd be off!

Pay the money and give the player some confidence and they will be interested, just as Ozil was in joining Arsenal despite there long lack of success.

It's less surprising Mata joining United than Ozil joining Arsenal imho. The good players have been deserting Arsenal in recent years too, only Ronaldo has left United at the top of his game and go on to be better.

Not even our little magician can save United this season. They are absolutely terrible at the moment - they need about 5-6 signings. Their squad is full of very average players and a very average manager and back room staff.

Have to laugh :D.

You aren't entirely wrong, but our team is built around (and almost entirely reliant on) our strikers and when you remove them we're pretty poor. Hopefully with them back + Mata we can improve a lot - if we don't then concerns will have to be seriously raised over Moyes.

I think we should try and find a 'generic' central midfielder to buy this week though, it doesn't have to be a Vidal, just someone good and relatively cheap. Can remain a squad player if we can get someone better.

Have to say the reactions of the Chelsea fans on The Shed End are that of absolute rage and despair, they don't want to lose Mata, to us at least.
 
It looks like Chelsea are trying to pinch Salah from us :/

Not only are they buying & selling every player in Europe to beat FFP, they've copied Spurs and no longer employ their own scouts anymore.
