Hi All,

the KP card is very limited, there are less then 100 Units for whole Europe and it is not meant to replace the "normal" Classified.
The KP card is meant to get overclocked hardcore with LN2, Dry Ice, Facechange...
Of course you can also run it on air or water but the advantage compared to the Classi is not that big with normal cooling.
You can also still have Ref cards with good chips on it, there are ref cards that do run without voltage tweak 1250 out of the box so it do not mean you will get a "bad" GPU if you buy a normal Ti.

All due respect Dominik, and I know this isn't entirely EVGAs fault. The 780Ti is a very good overclocker. There are ref cards that will do 1250mhz to 1300mhz on air with stock voltage, correct. But if you take into account the OVP OCP protection that NV refuse to remove on these cards with the Classified, and that your binning process is essentially 1300mhz at 1.212v. Then you're not really getting a lot more card for your money. For the sake of the extra cost you may as well gamble with a reference card, which could quite possibly get those clocks anyway. For example one of my SuperClocked cards will do 1316Mhz @ 1.212v. Unfortunately I'm not able to put anymore voltage through it, when there's no real physical hardware limitation on it over the Classified with it's better voltage controllers.

I think the fact these cards-do clock so well has allowed you to create this 3rd tier card, put better voltage controller, uprated power converter for 450W and charge considerably more for it in limited quantities. If it wasn't for the fact the Ti had such better power circuitry as a reference design this obviously wouldn't of happened. Thus the previously top of the line Classified has been surpassed as the card to get. Of course if you're lucky enough to get hold of a working Evbot that's not so bad.

I'm feeling that the reasoning for this is a lot to do with Nvidia not allowing you to remove the voltage regs and that in itself is not your fault, but I think a lot of Classified owners feel a little short changed over it.

By default the voltage is limited but there are a lot of third party software/BIOSes out there you can go with the classi to 1.35 and what I have seen customer run with this roughly 1400+ A ref card will not be happy if you put this on it :) for a Classi this is a easy job...
I can also understand the point that with previus series the Classi was THE card to get and now the KP is THE card to get but the KP is a specil edition card. If you go for LN2 cooling you need to have good engeneering knowledge to solder a Epower board on a card which do also mean you need to destroy it and if you do something wrong you might have totally destroyed a 700 EUR card and then you are not even able to run a benchmark. It is also not only about an epower board, you do also need to solder capacitors and other stuff on the card and if you do not know where to solder it or you do something wrong that can be again the end of the card.
With the KP card you can just put a LN2 block on it and go for records and there is no risk you might destroy the card before you even startet the bench... with a normal Classi you can not do this or you do not get the very high scores... Of course you can also run it on air and water and have some better clocks then other cards/normal classi... We want to give with this card everybody the ability to go extreme :D

Is it not possible to just give the user control to PPL voltage etc on the Classified as well so no need for hard mods? ;)

Point is Dom, I still think Classy owners are getting a rougher deal than they used to be! There have been some nice results on 1.35v but if you're telling me the ref design wouldn't take that voltage or wouldn't be able to run those clocks I'm not sure I buy that! Obviously some would be better than others, but I would like to see what ref design can do at 1.3v at the least. NVidia are really taking their own precautions over their customers needs which in a niece market such as high end GPUs is ridiculous.

When the next round of NVidia cards are launched and you produce a Classified version, what confidence will anyone have in buying one knowing that they have bought the best of the best. None whatsoever as they will always have at the back of their mind that there may be a KPE or something similar.

You have just trashed a very good brand.

EVGA Classified R.I.P.

A bit early for that Kaap, we don't know if these cards will do any better on air or water cooling than a standard classified.

Newhit seems to be doing just fine with his pair of 780ti Classifieds. ;)

Not really! There's always something bigger & better around the corner. That's the way it goes.

He's one of the lucky ones with an Evbot. There is no way to direct ly compare to ref cards as there is no bios for them that allows 1.3v. Newits cards at 1.2v are no quicker than my ref ones in terms of clock speed. Least not on the core front.

There are always bigger and better GPUs coming out.

My point is that EVGA has always made their top model the Classified, this is no longer true.

As a brand EVGA Classified no longer means the best.

Then so be it! The KP model is just a LTD Edition card that only the hardened enthusiasts out there will most likely buy. I don't see it discrediting the Classifieds at all in anyway.

Hey, alone you leave me..........with my preciouses....they pretty they be :D

Well it kinda does- the Classifieds are not binned anymore, just the KPE. Also, you are guaranteed Samsung memory only on the KPE.

Anyway, the first of the KPEs have arrived to their owners in the US:

I've no idea about the binning process if any that goes on with the regular Classifieds so can't comment. That's a different discussion altogether.

no it isn't, that is part of the whole issue

the 580 classified had 2 8-pins and a 6-pin plus a whole load of extra power handling black magic built in, as well as a hand picked binned chip

the most recent classifieds have been glorified factory OC models... then they bring out the KPE which is basically the 780ti's version of what the 580 Classy was

look at the specs between the 580 Classy, the 680/780 classy and then the 780ti KPE and tell me which actually compares well to the 580 classified

EVGA classified used to actually mean something, and now it looks like KPE means the same thing, leaving Classified as a shell of it's former self

This is just an uber limited edition, card, I see it as enhancing the brand, if you want an iber binned chip, this is the card, classi is made in much larger numbers.. Its a super premium product. Kaap, I think you are going way over the top.

It maybe an issue to you, but not to me in no shape or form. The KP Edition wouldn't prevent me buying the regular Classified Ti in the slightest or think any less of the regular Classified regardless.
