What film did you watch last night?

Escape Plan - Sly and Arnie in prison kicking butt. Brilliant fun. The escape methods are all complete bobbins, but it's so good with it you don't care (much like Expendables). Arnie is on top form and steals the show from Sly. Good classic action fun. :D 7/10

^ Precisely :)

I hope nobody was expecting Shawshank or something :D

What exactly was the purpose of that 'air vent' that didn't even have a vent under the iso cell? :D

Was pleasantly surprised with Escape Plan also, kind of feels like it should have been released when Con Air / The Rock came out. But enjoyable nonetheless.

Thor 2

I thought it was pretty decent tbh.
Maybe I need to put my 'must find fault with everything' hat on?
I thought it was good, if not better than the first.

Great effects, decent story, nice blend of genres (elves flying spaceships and using singularity grenades... :D) and a well executed finale. Solid film, great entertainment.

In other news, I watched World War Z tonight. As a zombie film it's ok... As an adaptation of the book it takes its name from, it's a travesty. So far removed as to be pointless. The book has loads of interesting ideas in it. The only bit of this that made me take notice was what the CIA man said the North Koreans had done to slow the spread of the zombie plague - that was brilliant. The rest was boring, nothing new.

To be fair it would have been nigh on impossible to make the book into a film as it stands given the style in which it's told!

I do take your point though, the two were from entirely different points of view!

Lone Survivor
Thought it was very good. I haven't read the book and I know they have changed some things, but it was pretty well done. It's very sad when you're watching a film knowing that the characters were killed in real life. The photos at the end of the film make it all that more real :(.
7/10

I have, only two main changes that matter

1) they actually voted on killing or releasing the Sheppard's - in the film the Lt decides to let them go - although the outcome was the same anyway
2) the big battle at the end never happened, the Taliban stayed out of the village respecting Pashtunwali (although still surround it and try and scare the villagers) while the villagers did their best to hide Marcus by moving which house he was in every night, eventually getting smuggled out of the village and into American hands a few days later

I watched that last night. I was ok, pretty silly, but good mindless film for a work night. My favourite line was from Arnie:

"You punch like a vegetarian."

I wonder if it would have been better to make it as a 6-12 episode mini series like Band of Brothers?

That would have suited the Flashback style of the novel, with either one of the longer or several smaller stories taking a whole episode.

Just been to see 'Lone Survivor'. Even though its not 100% true to real events, found it to be a good enjoyable film 8/10

Indie Game the Movie 9/10
Excellent, I wanted to cheer out loud for the chap when he was chuffed about the 22000 sales which meant that he'd earned more than in the previous 6 years combined. Little did he know he would go on to sell more than a 1,000,000 copies!

Enders Game 3/10

Was pretty pants tbh. I had lined up the books in my kindle collection to read one day but don't think i'll bother now.

The Lincoln Lawyer.

Missed this the first time round and it appears to be the movie that started the Mcconnaissance. Really enjoyed it although not entrirely sure what Ryan Phillippe's character was trying to do.

9/10 though - solid

Enders Game 3/10

Was pretty pants tbh. I had lined up the books in my kindle collection to read one day but don't think i'll bother now.

The book is a Sci-Fi classic... Sad to hear about the film I was really looking forward to it.

Psycho. The original on bluray. Looks crazily sharp, like it's a present day bluray but with a B&W filter over it. Still a classic and the music is just as good as has always been know. Murder scenes I find a little comical now, more so than when I saw it 8 years ago.

8/10

Harry Potter and the deathly hallows 1+2

I'm 36 and still shed a tear when Dobby gets tagged in the belly by Helena Bonham Carter.

Still 2 Very good films 8/10 and 8.5/10
